I just recently purchased the game online and downloaded, and I came across this error when trying to load the game. Everything worked great and I even set my graphics on low since my computer may lag (I am using a laptop Dell Studio XPS 13). However, when I click start, a small black window appears along with an error message saying Nix adapter Desc: get Device caps () Failed. I have already downloaded, and installed the latest Direct X also. Please help!

You don't have any kind of compatible graphics card showing.

Reinstall the drivers for whatever graphics card you have. Better to get them from the relevant manufacturer sites (Either Nvidia or Ati depending on what you have)


If on the other hand that VGA IS your graphics solution, Then why do you have such a basic video device in an otherwise decent system?

to be honest, I don't really understand what i have on this laptop. My brother just randomly handed it to me. x-x So I'm not exactly sure which IS my graphics card. Thank you for the help though! For reinstalling the drivers for my graphics card, do I go directly to like nvidia website or ati?

Depends on what graphics chip you have in the laptop -- Is it ATI - Nvidia or Intel ?? you'll need to find out that before you can download the appropriate drivers - and right now you are running on the generic Microsoft VGA drivers so there is no way for us to tell from that report unless the DELL Studio XPS 1340 only came in one version !

EDIT : http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/dells-studio-xps-1340-and-studio-xps-1640-sneak-onto-the-scene/ the 1340 has an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G graphics chip so you would get it from either DELL or Nvidia !

According to popular theory, that laptop came with a NVIDIA? GeForce? 9400M G video solution. Should be able to get drivers from dells website.

According to the PCI ID its definitely nVidia, but I cannot verify the specfic chipset. I would get the driver from dell to ensure compatibility.
