NMM and FOMM

Post » Fri Jul 04, 2014 8:09 pm

Greetings,
I'm new to this modding thing and I have time and again been able to follow gopher's videos and they are very informative. But I'm still having a little trouble figuring this out...

Some mod "require" that I use FOMM.
I do not use FOMM I use NMM.
So, can I just use NMM for auto loading mods or can I use both?

I would normally figure this out but since the game is 3? Yrs old or so, most vids are old and most are out of date...

Thanks
Tuna

IMO, you're better off using FOMM. It's been around a lot longer and many of the older mods were made with it in mind. They also won't download with NMM either, so you're going to have to download them manually and use FOMM to enable them anyway. NMM also seems to have some issues, I've read a number of posts by people where it wouldn't work properly. Finally, by downloading manually and installing your mods by yourself, you're going to learn more about how things work. NMM holds your hand far too much, someday you're going to run into problems because a conflict occurs that you've never learned how to deal with.

Ok. But here is the problem, I have started modding my FONV ultimate using NMM. So far so good until I ran across some mods that "requires" FOMM with no reference to NMM whatsoever. So does this mean I have to trash my whole FONV game and reinstall game from scratch and mod it using FOMM?
and I think I posted this in the wrong forum....so sorry

Thanks

No, the mods you installed through NMM will still exist in your Data folder and FOMM will see them there. See, this is an example of what I meant about learning how things work. If you rely on a program that holds your hand like NMM, you aren't going to be aware of something basic like how the Data folder works. That kind of knowledge could be crucial at some point if you run into a conflict or other sort of problem.
