NMM deleted Fallout 3 Saves?

Post » Tue Feb 25, 2014 4:27 pm

I started NMM and it says I have no fallout 3 ini. I check out my files..the ini is there so what's the problem? I start steam and reload NMM and launch fallout I can only start a new game though? I'm frustrated since there is no way in hell I'm starting a new game as I have gotten so far. I check my save files..and the saves are there I just have no option to load them when I launch the game. What's up with that?

Did you wait a bit at the title screen? I usually have to wait for about 10 seconds or a bit longer until GFWL logs in and the option for loading a save is there. Usually when you have saves under GFWL, it wont show up when not logged in. I know you said you have the Steam version, but AFAIK you still need GFWL on the Steam version.

You need GFWL installed, but you don't have to use it or log in to it.

Did you tell NMM where Fallout 3 is installed?

Ya, I was going to come back to edit my post to mention that I assume he logs into GFWL which you don't need to log into if not a GFWL user. Thanks for catching that.

Ok so I may have royally screwed myself. I no longer use xbox live etc my games for windows ID is my xbox gamertag I converted to PS3 >.> anyway. I accidentally pressed the games for windows live button while saving a game it wanted me to log in and I couldn't so I used task manager to get out of logging in. If I need a password to log in to GFWL I won't know it. I see the saves in my fallout 3 files and have no problems with NMM or how any of that works. Just can't get my saves to show up.

You could create another GFWL account as it creates a folder in your saves just for that user (Folder name is the user name). Once that is done, move the saves to that folder.

Look in the saves folder (my games>fallout 3>saves). Do you see a folder that is the same name as the user name you chose for GFWL? If so, move the saves into that folder.

If they are not in the above folder, then poke around in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive and see if they are there. Barring that, search on your PC for FOS files, those are your saves.
