Nobility mods?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:16 pm

A simple question: Are there any mods that allow you to become someone of nobility like a count, duke or lord?

I alread know of Kvatch Rebuilt and Windfall.

It isn't any help (sorry), but I was coincidentally just reading about http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Unfinished_Quests, and found out that they had originally planned to include exactly this! Probably common knowledge but I couldn't help mentioning it.

I haven't played it myself because of its incompatibilities with other mods in my load order, but Dragon Captions - The Elder Council is apparently a mod that lets you earn "nobility points" and rise to become Duke of Colovia.

That was mostly just a title though wasn't it?

In Integration The Stranded Light you help set up a town and be appointed count of it. Which nets you a nice tower, and about 15 inhabitants which actually have personality and quests for you to do. One thing I hate about most companion and ruler mods is that most of the NPCs you interact with are brainless slaves to your every whim and don't really feel like they have any purpose other than to serve you.

There's of course the countless castle mods butthat's usually just a simple dungeon crawl followed by getting a house with people inside.

Can't really think of anything else on the "noble" side.

Aye. TEC does indeed eventually allow one to become Duke of Colovia. (I should point out that I use the non "DC" version.) It seems a more or less honorary position. It does, however entitle you to a seat on the Elder Council and quarters in the Imperial Palace. A shame about the incompatibilities. I'd like to give Weather: All Natural and Immersive Interiors (especially the latter) a try. Sadly, All Natural recommends not using TEC. As I consider TEC the very core of my installation it wins out in any conflict.

I believe Kvatch Aftermath, from the same author as TEC, allows one to become Count of Kvatch. But if you are already happy with Kvatch Rebuild, which also offers this options, there is no great reason to switch. (I use a third option, Kvatch Rising, which does NOT offer a noble title.)

Servant of the Dawn lets you become...well a certain sort of ruler, don't want to spoil anything here, just mention that it does not only give you the title but also changes the AI accordingly...

Also, what's the difference between the two?

The only other Elder Council mods I found don't offer any quests, just add NPCs.

The DC version is actually better. I believe he said he was using the non-dc because he figured maybe it was expanded in the DC version.

The non-DC version was by Gizkard who quit the community a while ago. DC is basically the people he used to work with who wanted to continue modding.
