I've been trying out Daggerfall again through DOSBox, and have been running around on the island of Betony just for the heck of it. Anyway, I had been doing quests and somehow I ended up becoming hated. I'm not sure how it happened, since my character has only committed a few minor offenses. Anyway, I wasn't too concerned about it since people were still talking to me. I had just completed a Fighter's Guild quest that involved cleaning out a dungeon, and I had just signed up for another quest. When I went outside to ask people for directions, nobody would talk to me. I thought it might have been because of my reputation there, so I traveled to Daggerfall, where I'm considered a common citizen. People there won't talk to me either. There are other provinces where I can talk to people, so I have no idea what's going on. I've completed every quest I signed up for, so it doesn't seem to be a pending quest. Oddly enough, when I check my previous saved games, the problem exists there, too--even though from any one of those saves I know I've talked to many people since then. I only have one save that's not screwed up, and it's the save I made right before I left Privateer's Hold. I number my savegames when I save, and I first noticed the problem around my 40th save. My earliest save that had the problem was my 11th save. Fixsave doesn't help. I suspect I'll have to start over (from the end of Privateer's Hold at least), but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. And yes, patched the game to .213 before creating a character.
