Nocturnal NPCs?

Post » Sun Nov 22, 2009 12:03 am

Hey guys, I've come to notice after playing Oblivion for a couple years that some NPCs just don't go to bed when you want them to D=. What I'm asking is whether or not they are programmed to stay up extra late sometimes (4AM)? Or is it because when I'm ahead of schedule I just use the good ol' wait function to pass a few hours by until say 12AM when I would expect them to be sleeping? It's not a major issue I was just looking for some kind of confirmation :)

-EDIT-

I'm talking specifically about Matthias Draconis for the dark brotherhood quest.

NPCs have all sorts of different schedules-- some sleep early, some sleep late, some don't sleep at all.

If you really want to know a particular NPC's schedule, just google his/her name and that'll give you a link to their UESP wiki page, which almost always has their complete schedules plus any quirks about them.

Or you can just take your chances......

Yep, some NPC's have different cycles. I think gamesas did that so that it appeared "real". Otherwise, at the turn of 10pm and everyone suddenly fled home and fell asleep, it would look odd.

This way, especially for theives, you have to take a chance on who's sleeping.

Every NPC has different AI packages that take them throughout the day. From sleeping in the bed, to eating food at a table, walking around all day and then going to bed, they each have different cycles.

Haha oh Jesus... Interesting 5 minutes of my life: I snuck past him in his house up to his bedroom where I figured I would wait for him there. As I entered his room he appeared in front of me and went to bed ([censored] bricks). On my way out of the house I realized the dude who kept kicking me out was his roommate or something. Very, VERY stupid of me XD. (I've done this quest likes 100 times)

Thanks for the fast replies though guys!

They do seem to stay up quite late, often until 1-2 in the morning. I always wait until past 2, sometimes 3 before breaking in anywhere.
