Daedric Princes and their mortal enticing tactics.
She lures the weak mortal mind into eternal servitude with those puppies.
The Evergloam is akin to a paradise. It really is not so bad.
I mean really. The Nords in Sovngarde are slave to Shor. They will be forced to war in the end times. If you want a comparison.
Won't lie, evergloom sounds like one of the most unappealing fates out there to me. Maybe someone in the eastern side of the world from a different philosophical view of life would enjoy it more than I. That being taking bigger import in the group rather than the individual, whereas I am the opposite. I don't want to lose who I am even to become apart of something bigger, so Sovngarde appeals to me greatly while evergloom seems terrible. Especially the idea of being shadow, the most perfect expression of fading and being almost non existant. It's almost like dying itself, the way it is explained.
It's the robe, just the robe. It does the same thing with males .
Well of course, it all boils down to perspective. I personally can't stand the idea of hanging around in paradise. The whole "shadow" concept appeals to me in a way. If I die, I'd love to remain as a guardian spirit for those I care about. Though I'd rather be more direct, rather than "a guiding force within the Shadows."
Not surprising as I am biased towards necromancy in general. Sovngarde to me is just... boring. I want to actually continue to impact the mortal plane when I'm dead. Evergloam kind of offers both in a sense. It is a peaceful place, but the Nightingales are also excepted to defend it, and guide mortal thieves. It's death with a purpose. But not "brutal slavery" most people immediately jump to when they hear the, oh so sinful words of "servitude." Like it's some unholy concept from hell itself. There's more than one way to "serve." Serving Nocturnal is not back-breaking whip-lashed slavery. It's peaceful and purposeful at the same time, where you are an immortal spirit aiding those mortals whom walk in your foot-steps as thieves.
Case and point: Gallus. He does not seem distressed at all. He's actually happy. And so is Karliah. And in the Shadows, Gallus can guide Karliah.
It's kinda relative. I mean, the Nords don't have a say in that matter, but... they are Nords. They welcome battle.
As for the Evergloam... an amalgamation of souls doesn't sound like a nice afterlife. Sounds like you become trapped in a hive thing rather than being able to move freely.
See what I posted above.
And recall the conversation between Gallus and Karliah at the end. Gallus is not distressed at all. And from the Shadows, Gallus is still present with Karliah, guiding her and keeping her hidden from danger.
That part about Sovngarde seeming boring, that's the best part! Time is meaningless in Sovngarde, so things never get boring! Imagine what it would be like if you and your spouse made it there. six would always be like the first time you met! Fighting would be as exciting as the first time you lifted a blade. Food would taste like you've never eaten ever, each time because nothing ever gets old to you! That's an unimaginable and amazing thing to me.
Karliah is Heimskr level of crazy.
And of course Gallus seemed to be okay. He was wandering freely in the Sepulcher. However, that certainly changed when he finally got absorbed into the hive.
I can see the appeal. But different stokes for different folks. If I'm an immortal spirit in death, I want to take advantage of it in the mortal plane. Rather than waste it partying.
Imagine dieing while you still have family alive. Imagine being able to subtly aid them by being in their shadows. That's what Nocturnal offers. You never really leave your loved ones. And your loved ones are still under your protection. Just like Gallus can still guide Karliah while she lives.
It's okay if you do not share her view-point. That does not make her crazy. Nor does it make Gallus crazy. Nocturnal is not whipping her slaves with back-breaking work. She gives them refugee, and the chance to aid mortal thieves through the shadows. It really isn't bad. Nor are you a chained slave. You signed a contract, and you are an employee with enormous amounts of vacation time in-between work.
If this was Molag Bal and Coldharbor we were talking about, I would understand. But serving Nocturnal is a nice cushy deal.
I wasn't referring to Karliah's view-point, but her behavior. She may say that it's nothing like religion, but she sounds like an obsessed priestess whenever she talks to or about Nocturnal.
Speaking of Coldharbor, I wonder if Molag Bal worshippers have the same fate as those who have their souls claimed by him like that old man in Skyrim's quest.
Feh...it's all about the eternal hunting grounds of Hircine!
I can understand it, but you're screwed when they eventually die out and leave you. Reminds me of a Supernatural episode about being a ghost. And for me, I'd rather have my relative enjoying their afterlife in peace, not fussing over me.
Funny how a thread about boobs quickly turns into a lore discussion.
Hope in humanity restored.
Nah, I'm just kidding. Humanity is still [censored].
I imagine Vampires, and loyal Bal Worshipers that actually did something rather than prattle around, get authority. As-in. they walk amongst the Dremora and other daedra that deliver punishment.
Of course, the genuine masochists have the choice to volunteer for abuse as well. So even Coldharbor is a win-win for true Bal worshipers. Rather it be the ones whom enjoy abusing others... or the ones that love being abused. It's a paradise to both of them.
Remember, no individual's belief is universal. No matter how crazy you think someone else is. Everyone has a different perspective. You will understand some, others will be alien to you. That does not make it wrong. It's all about perspective. I could even make a case for Dagon and the Deadlands.
There is nothing to really discuss about eye-candy. Lore however, is more interesting and discussion worthy.
Well we simply don't know what happens with Molag Bal worshipers we know what happens to those who cross him and those who are sacrificed to him. Heck according to the voice actor video he wants worshipers heck he gives out "gifts" to those he likes or those he deems strong so I am assuming they don't receive the same treatment.
Since in effect he has dominated and corrupted them already and they worship and submit to his authority. As Hev said maybe he uses them as guards? smiths? Torturers? they may be given some authority like the Dremora and other Daedra. We don't even know what he does with vampires/vampire lords its a whole big question mark which is why I am hoping ESO might give us some answers.
I think Hev is on the mark on what he does with them since to me Bal does not strike me as a person who would invest a lot of power into them and then just throw them aside according to his dialogue in eso and other ES games. I think being given some authority is the most likely answer if we don't get one.
I guess it's true, the clothes make the (wo)man. Miraak wouldn't be so intimidating either if he just wore a party hat and a banana suit.
Please use "you" and "your" instead of u and ur.Ok?
