L.A Noire

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:32 pm

So, the first look at actual gameplay content has been revealed today: http://www.rockstargames.com/lanoire/

As it is not being developed by Rockstar I'm hoping it won't have the same awful controls that RDR and previous GTA games have. The first thing I noticed was the compass in the corner, identical to RDR and GTA, so I'm not too hopeful about the controls.

I can't get over the realistic facial expressions on the characters, it looks amazing. I like the crime-solving concept of the game but it looks so similar to GTA/RDR that it's deflated my interest a little bit. I think being able to walk around 1940s L.A. would be cool though, I love the whole look of that period.

So... L.A. Noire = GTA meets Mafia only you're solving murders instead of committing them? :P

This game looks pretty much amazing, it's basically what I've always wanted a GTA game to be, that is playing as a cop instead of a criminal.

It does look good, but the biggest draw by far is the facial animation technology. Will this eventually become the staple of the games industry? Will voice actors have to learn to act facially as well? It's an interesting development to say the least.

So not a GTA game...
Play RDR robbing people and putting hog tied prosttutes on train tracks is entirely optional.

Its rockstar I like thier games, except GTA IV, and its a unique setting not many games have, they pulled of the west well in RDR so I will get this. Also I expect a good story, and need to buy it because I dont want it spoiled.

Finally! A game where you get to play as a cop and not another scumbag underground crime boss. Although, it looks like only a couple of the begining parts will have you being a street patroling officer, but its better than thrusting you right into being a big importnant detective. Looks like a lot of cutscenes though, and long dialouge could get boring but as long as they keep the plot going and the story interesting then it wont be a problem. This game and Operation Flashpoint Red River are certain pick-ups for me :D

I'm really looking to play it on my (relatively) new HD TV. I'm currently doing a second play trough of Mass Effect 2 (continuing the story of my second Mass effect 1 bizzaro playtrough) and I'm blown away by the difference from Mass Effect 2 on a crappy cathodic screen (I couldn't even read any text at all) and on a 1080p LED screen.

I cant wait to play LA Noir and finally fight crime in an Rockstar game instead of commiting them!

Day 1 buy for me.

PS: Bethesda better deliver hard on Skyrim or this might be this year's RDR, a GOTY that nobody expected.

Save for a console. Or if you have a freind who has one borrow thier xbox. (Preferabley you also convince them to get the game and let you borrow it).

I like it being exclusive, mainly because good exlusives e.g RDR are an awesome card for when a PC gamer decides to look down on console gamers. But I am not getting into it.

My only issue with the game is replay value. I cant imagine the game will have much, and the story seems to be the main thing :/ I hope its open world too. But I cant see what they could fill it with, it seems to plot focused.
