L.A. Noire

Post » Mon Nov 08, 2010 12:40 am

I think, as far as sequels go, the spiritual successor should either be in the same time period, but in Chicago or New York or some place like that, or in the 70s, following the trail of the Zodiac killer. If it was in the same time period, however, I believe people would complain that it was more of the same, even though I would still enjoy it. So, if it were in the seventies it could still be the same basic stuff, but they could pull from different films, like Dirty Harry and Bullit, giving it an altogether different tone. If it were in the 70s, it'd have to be in San Francisco, no other place would be as cool. I loved L.A. Noire, but there's not doubt that there are some things they could have done better. I think that if they kept working on it and refined it, the sequels would be awesome.

I would love a Vegas "L.A." Noire during the Rat Pack era, when the Mafia ran the city. Cliche, I know, but still. I don't believe you need a link to any real cases (Zodiac Killer, The Black Dahlia murderer etc) to make an excellent game. Besides... I'm sure Las Vegas had plenty of "big things" around that time.

I just think the 70s would be awesome because you could play the 'Callahan'. The cop who plays by his own rules, but they work and that's why he's still in the police force. It would be a very different experience from the pretty by-the-book Phelps.

You'd be surprised on just how "pretty by-the-book Phelps" actually isn't. You may have a different opinion though, after beating the game (if you haven't already).

If they make a sequel they need to make some major changes.Overall just give us a better story that spans the entire game or most of it.Flesh out the characters more other than Cole Phelps the cop and war veteran there really wasn't much to him.Show us his life at home or outside of his job.Find a way to make things less linear and repetitive. The detective work was interesting but its something they need to change and have more variation to it.Don't just give us one set path, when we make mistakes have it affect the entire outcome.

I have beaten the game, but compared to other characters he's still pretty by-the-book. Street-crime-wise, yeah, he shoots a lot of people, but how they develop his character he's by-the-book for most of the game. I'm talking eating-a-hot-dog-and-shooting-criminals Callahan-ism.

I think Kelso is a better character than Phelps through and through, truth be told.

What was you guys' favorite suit? I liked the Hawkshaw, especially near the end, because it gave a 'the gloves are off, its anyone's game now' feel.

Yeah, I was hoping there would be a trenchcoat. I hope they'll add suits in the DLCs.

i am the kind of guy who wouldnt mind paying money for a clothing DLC, as long as it was cheap.

I'll definitely be buying most if not all the DLC, so I'd rather have them included in case DLCs, but I'd probably be fine with a clothing one, only if it included more than one suit and they were really cool looking.

remember they did take out two entire desks worth of cases out of the game, (Burglary and Bunko) and if you notice that after the 6 months later, between Traffic and murder, the first part of the cut scene has the chief moving him from burglary to Homicide.

they could easily use a DLC to fill in the gap and expand on Coles personal life (something i found really lacking)

Man, I hate the ending of LA Noire. The game was amazing, but the ending was awful. By the way, what does Cole see in Elsa? She is god damned ugly

That would be awesome! A game based around those seventies cop movies like French Connection and Dirty Harry. Sounds good to me.

Spoiler
Does anyone else here think Jack Kelso is a much better character than Cole Phelps?

I found Kelso far more likable and "cool" than Phelps, especially late game. (In my opinion) Phelps is complete scum. The cheating on his wife, and hurting his children, with a German dope fiend and the various flashbacks you witness while playing solidified my mindset. I was glad he died come conclusion, and the 1 man he couldn't stand come midgame was giving a speech at his funeral and offended his "squeeze".
