L.A. Noire Thread #2

Post » Tue Jun 15, 2010 7:56 am

What?LittleBigPlanet2, Dead Space 2,Killzone 3,Dragon Age 2, Homefront, Crysis 2, Portal 2,Brink,Infamous 2, Dead Island, Dues Ex:Human Revolutions, Gears of War 3, Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3,TESV and Assassin's Creed: Revelations are all coming out this year.Sure some have been bust but this is one of the most hyped years in recent memory.

I completely agree, if only I had the money for all those games. I didn't mean it to sound like this is a bad year, I mean it's just a bad year for my finances so I have to be extremely choosy.

Look at me...3 years and still far away from master. :violin:

Will we be able to explore the city on our own time with a proper day/night cycle, or will it be like Mafia 2 where we can only roam around at night at the end of story missions?

You can roam around Mafia 2 during the day.

My point was you couldn't do anything unless at the end of a mission, or at least a stopping point, and you were forced into missions in Mafia 2. GTA and RDR handled this perfectly.

According to the reviews, you can choose to explore and do side missions whenever like in GTA and RDR.

Huh. That goes against everything the devs said about this game. I'm interested in seeing how that's handled. I guess I'll know in 2 hours.

I don't get it. Why do people buy games that take 1-5 days to finish 100% when they can rent it for 5$?

Can anyone with the game confirm if there is a day/night cycle.

Because they'll probably play it again or want to take their time. I am planning on renting it but there's a good chance I won't beat it in those 5 days. Mostly because I play other things as well.

Because some people enjoy doing things more than once.

I'm a casual player. It takes me a lot longer than 5 days.

If you've got the free time, the vast majority of games can be 100% completed in 1-5 days. If it's a big RPG, like TES or a Diablo-style game, it's not like you're having new experiences for that entire period; it's mostly the same action over and over until it runs out. If I'm aiming at all the quests and such first, there will be plenty of Oblivion left, but it's pretty much all going to be more dungeons. There's little difference between that and simply replaying a shorter game.

Played for a couple of hours and I'm enjoying it.A little linear and a bit of hand holding but the investigation parts are great the action and chases are very entertaining as well. Still waiting for the plot to thicken though its been just a few normal cases that don't really seem to lead anywhere. So far I'm really enjoying it and anyone who is waiting to play it will not be completely disappointed like most so many games released this year have done.

How's exploration in the game?

Well like I said the game has kind of been linear so far so I haven't done much exploring. By looking at the map However the city looks huge.

Pretty much this as well, more challenging to tell if people are lying than I initially thought. The action parts are entertaining enough, plays kind of like RDR. I also turned off the music thing that tells you if clues are nearby and it makes it much more satisfying to finally find all the clues.

Do you know how to stop people who are shooting at you instead of just shooting and killing them?
