Do you know how to stop people who are shooting at you instead of just shooting and killing them?

Chase them down and when you get close hold A and you'll tackle them. I'm not sure if you can just shoot them in the leg or arm.

No, I've tried that, you just end up having to kill them anyway.

Edit: dO you mean you've tried to tackle them or do you men shoot them in the legs?
I tried it too, that's kind of lame.

So is the lie option only for people you want to convict? Because I tried to tell the bartender he was lying and then the game thought I wanted to say he was the one who did the crime.

No, you should only choose lie when you have hard evidence to prove that they are lying.

I've been wondering for awhile now, how did they handle shooting civilians in the game?

Theres various people playing through the game online. I watched the first 20 minutes of the game including the first tutorial investigation. I was completely blown away by the image metrics technology being used. I thought RDR had subtle hints of the technology being used, especially on the Nigel Westdikeens...but every single character in this game seems to show emotion.

I keep referring to the game as a movie rather than a game. The credits at the beginning, with the kinetic type -- amazing!

I'm still on the fence on picking this one up though. I just played RDR this year and I still wasn't crazy about it when i finished it. I feel like it accomplishes itself as a great storytelling device but at the same time it feels like a one of those boring movies, you know?

I didn't see much action though...perhaps i'll watch some more videos :)

Well after many hours I assure you it's an amazing game. The tech and crime solving is super fun and I would recommend it to anyone. However I believe there are two things stopping it from being perfection.

1. The open world isn't fleshed out. I got the "Mafia II" question. What's the point of this huge world if there's nothing to do? I understand where the direction of the game is going, but if you're going to include the open world you have to make it fun.

2. It's (pardon me for saying) WAAAAYYYYYYYY too easy. There's no option for failure. You can't fail a case and move on. You always win, it's like watching a Bond film. You never really feel scared for him because you know he will win. The game really hand holds you at points, I just feel like Team Bondi thinks the people playing these games are dumb CoD players who don't have a clue in the world what to do. The game constantly makes me feel like they think we're dumb. I just wish I could push their hand away and solve my cases. I also agree with IGN, whenever I start to really get immersed there's an annoying pop up that reminds me this is just a game. So while solving cases is extremely fun, don't get me wrong. I think it could have benefited from some challenge.

I was really looking forward to a fleshed out free roam. Maybe once you progress far enough, you'll have more freedom? I saw the city map and it's huge!

Supposed to have come out today and cost $10.

Well you can go about and do side quest, for example when your driving around you'll here dispatch over the radio and you can choose whether to respond or not. There are 40 of these random crimes around to the stats page.

Anybody seen any videos with pure (preferably HD) gameplay?

Found one.

Been playing it for a few hours now. I am really enjoying it.

My only complaint is that it is pretty linear. But there are around 40 side cases you can do that are pretty fun.

The map is pretty big, and there is a lot of exploring to be done.

I know this will sound ridiculous but-

the major reason I'm not getting this game is because you are on the police force. I want to be working for a gang. Dumb reason to not get the game, but I don't think I would have much fun with it.

Your loss....it's too bad that you can't seem to open your mind to the other side of the law. I just don't see how you can't have fun solving mysteries and using your brain as opposed to blowing them out.

because everyone is different? I didn't know that everyone's mind thinks alike. If that were true, then we would have a pretty boring gaming industry.

I was never attacking you, and I never said our minds think a like. I was just saying it doesn't seem to me like you're giving the game a fair chance. How about a good rent?

I don't like GTA for the exact opposite reason, I don't like playing an unlikeable character.

Been playing all day. Some good things, some bad. Its rather linear and has little replay value IMO. Definitely worthy of a rental only , since its just an interactive movie that gets rather repetitive by the middle of Disc two. While the story has a better production value than 95+% of most games, it still teeters on the cliche, when not outright borrowing from other Noire media, namely movies. It is fun to be a detective, unfortunately I dont see how its anything more than a rental. Ill have beaten this game by early this morning.

you can't

you can only pull out your gun during case scenarios, in free-roam you can't pull out your gun or even engage in fisticuffs. If you get in an accident you're penalized, it's almost entering original Mafia territory in which they will punish you for poor driving and public etiquette.

I completely agree. I can't play GTA because the characters disgust me. Where I like RDR because John Marston is a character you can identify with more with and actually like playing as. I don't know about Phelps yet, he seems a little too generic. I liked a lot more noir cops in movies right off the bat than Cole.
