Om nom nom, I am invincible! Nom yum slurp!

Enough of it would. In fable food only regenerated like a tiny bit of your health, but eat enough and it adds up. In Skyrim food will maybe restore 5 health, and with 80 HP at low level that′s a lot. Remember, food is cheap and weightless, so you should be able to get a lot.

Edit: If food ends up having weight then of course this thread is worth nix, and my concerns go out the window. But we were giving the sneak peak at E3 into the game and we can only just use that along with scraps of information we get as the basis of what to expect in Skyrim. And so far I′ve seen food that restores health and has no weight.

If I remember correctly you couldn't spam potions in OB so I'm guessing the same goes for food.
I doubt they'll change that in Skyrim. Oh and food not going to be weightless. It was a demo, weight was lightened
so Todd could show off some things. Three sets of Armor, 5+ weapons, and a few other things. You get it?

Oh... my... god... Does anyone on this forum actually have something positive to say?

You must not be looking hard enough. Not reading critical posts might help you feel better.

It's not that simple... It's a known fact that horses like carrots. And if you eat lots of carrots, you'll turn out like that horse. Fat. :)

You know, I doubt you can become fat if the only food you abuse has no fat in it, and barely any sugar (and natural one at that... good for the health)

Who really cares. If a player wants to play that way, why not let them. I get really tired of people complaining that people could exploit things. If you don't want to play that way then don't. I never heal in combat, that doesn't mean everyone should have to play that way.

If it really were an issue they wanted to prevent people from doing:

They could make it so you can't eat in combat.
They could make it so you get full and can't eat anymore.

Personally, I doubt food will be weightless.
I think it comes from it being a demo, or a beta (dont know if I use that term right) and not the finished game.

I am sure Bethesda will have realised how overpowered it would make ingredients in loot and healing.
Having an item that has infinite value to weight ratio would eliminate the need or want of ever picking up anything else.

Exactly, you guys need to remember, that demo was shown to game informer in January.
It's literally months old.

So then don't eat food... Simple.

Or are you talking about the multiplayer-aspect of the game, where you compete against other players? Then you sure have a problem.

I can also play naked and just fight with hand to hand and never block. But I like it when the game challenges me, I want to scraqe my resources in a fight and feel good about myself for managing to win the battle. I don′t want to feel good about myself because I nerfed myself to give my enemy a fighting chance, that removes a lot of the feel of danger and immersion.

I could play a character that has a code of honor in combat and only uses his physical capabilities, but then my honorable knight comes across your average damsel in distress surrounded by 3 clanfears, if I am fated to lose the battle and fail it I want to escape the scene thinking "I wan′t strong enough to save her, I have to get stronger" not "because I refused to eat my carrots she died"

It′s kinda hard to ignore sometimes.

How is this different from Oblivions hotkey healing potions?

Edit: ofcourse I don't want such exploits. Get rid of chameleon, insta eating/healing, weightless anything, invisibility and stupid AI that just stands there when his friend died. Burn the exploits.

It's just a demo. Calm down. Do you think we're going to have 999 health by the beginning of the game too?

What? We won't have 999 health? Source please?

Just kidding, I agree with Danger Dan, it's just a demo.

Funny how the guys that are so hell bent on hunting anyone questioning something about the game will be the same ones screaming "it svcks" and "it is lame" when it is actually launched. I've seen it before.

I can only hope the game is challenging and the acessibility mentality does not make it a walk in the park. Specially the Dragons.

Not many, unfortunately. Someone could get a million dollars on these forums and complain about the lack of Andrew Jackson compared to Benjamin Franklin.

The title says it all. So now food restores health, is weightless and I very much doubt Bethesda is going to make you sit down and slowly eat the food. Anyone else seeing the problem ? If you played "Fable and the lost chapters" you should.

Fable and the lost chapters failed when it came to combat because you were invincible, as soon as you got your hands on a bunch of apples and fish you just hot-keyed them and charged head first into battle spamming the hot-keys without a care in the world. Now that like with Fable, you will be able to carry infinite food that restores your health and will most likely be cheap and usable in an instant, we will have the same problem. Or will we ?

How do you think Bethesda intends to address this ? Will there be a cool-down on food ? Will you have a limited carrying capacity for food ? Will you not be able to hot-key food ? Will food be rare ? (I wouldn′t like that much because if they are aiming for a realistic economy and society then if there is enough food for thousands of people then there is enough food for a single person to gorge on without running out of it).

Maybe more importantly, how do you want Bethesda to handle this ? I myself think food should only restore fatigue and I′m pretty much against it restoring health. I don′t want combat becoming a trivial mini-game with no thought behind it like in Fable 1, just because Bethesda decided to make food overpowered.

Discuss, and if anyone has any information on this, please do share it.

well this is stupid if you ask me ( wich you didn't) if you didn't like it in fable, just do as I did, and sell the lot of thm..problem solved ( wich isn't even a problem if you ask me..wich, you didn't)

I'm also concerned about this. Hopefully food items will heal slowly over time, or there will be some sort of survival mode requiring eating, drinking and sleeping. Otherwise, I'm sure there will be mods created quickly that reduce the healing power of food.

It made more sense to me when food restored stamina. But hopefully Bethesda will balance this.

I'm pretty sure in Oblivion you could only have a set number of potions (or maybe it was just drinks...) before it said you can't take anymore. Maybe Skyrim will say 'You are full and can't eat anymore' if you try and spam food in battle. Or maybe you can only drink potions in combat and cannot eat?

im pretty sure that most things in these games dont give you instant health. and that when you do regenerate health its over time. as in regenerating 5 health per second for 5 seconds. so i really dont think its going to be a game breaker.
