Non-combat character?

Post » Sun Mar 21, 2010 9:38 pm

Greetings!

I just finished my first play-through (kind of a rush-through instead, to get a feel of the game) and initially I wanted a character that specializes in the non-combat aspects of the game (namely speech, science, repair and lockpick), but through the experience I garnered in the first play-through... It may seem close to impossible.

My impression may be skewed by the fact that I had no companion, but does having one really help much?

What do you guys think? I would really appreciate it if you guys can share some experiences or thoughts with regards to a as-non-combat-as-possible character!

Thank you!

Yes, companions are a big help. You need to get someone like Boone. My second character doesn't have much in the way of combat and Boone's a lifesaver - so long as you try to keep the enemies off him. I play on hardcoe very difficult setting.

Boone and Victoria make a good pair. Boone kills from afar, and she runs up and smashes them to bits (keeping them away from Boone).

As a bonus, she's also a portable workbench :D (and her personality rocks)

Tell Boone to keep his distance and set him passive. Tell Victoria to stay close and go aggressive. You'll find the dynamics are helpful.
