Non-Equiped weapons still on character.

Yeah, that's why it worked in Mass Effect, Or in Red Dead Redemption, because you had a limited number of weapons and weapon types in the game that would take up slots, in a game like this that lets you carry any weapon you want including to of the same weapon, that might get confusing.

You don't really need ready slots for this, just show the last weapons used as secondary as most people will switch between two or three.
And yes you can carry lots of swords in a backpack in real world, 20 will be a bit heavy load but quite possible. However this would be loot not ready weapons.


I dunno, that's sounds like you'd have add another layer to the code that's likely already complex enough as it stands.

Sure all in all it be a nice aesthetic feature, but I'm just not sure if their going to have the time to implement such a thing with everything else they have on their table.

If you are carrying it, then it is displayed. I suppose to display a dozen weapons, character graphics might require at least a dozen slots. It might look odd if you are carrying a dozen weapons, but then it probably should look odd.

Personally, I've never been a fan of the "festooned with gear" look. But, then, I play alot of female characters, with race/class/armor chosen for appearance. Piles of straps, sheathes, packs, weapons, etc.... just looks ungainly to me. (Even on Big Strapping Barbarian Guy, now that I think about it.)


Like.... I find it a bit annoying in Oblivion how the big clunky quiver of arrows is on your back, even when you've got your sword out.

Luckily, I generally only use 3rd person for screenshots and looking at new armors. But I still wouldn't want to be running around with piles of junk hanging off belts and straps. :shrug:

I definitely don't want a bunch of junk to be hanging off my character like some sort of hobo... Maybe they can add some sort of traveling pack where my miscellaneous items would be stored.

That is a good point.
How about it just renders the last 2 weapons (the last back weapon and the last side weapon) and the last quiver of arrows you wore, and when you change weapons, it changes the render until you change your weapon again.

I cant even imagine what most of my characters if you could see all the equipment hanging off them. 7 deadric boots hanging on strings and 2 cuirasses flapping about I wouldnt be able move

i was thinking about this the other week also. maybe have an option for when your in the menu to be able to select/equip items that are hot keyed to be visible... and have that system operate like slots of armor...

or only have a limited amount of hot key weapons... just the ones you are able to fit onto your body. i don't think you should be able to pull a non visible long sword out of nowhere in the middle of battle. if its set up like this then maybe they could even make animations for your character to place a dagger into his belt and then immediately move to pull a shield and sword, or bow and arrow, from his back.

also it might be cool if they gave us the option to change how we carry some items. in the case of shields, you could choose between the oblivion style of always having it on your arm, or on your back like in the screenshots. and in the case of two handed weapons, which side of the shoulder the weapon's hilt will be on.

and another thing i am hoping for is improving how equipped weapons fit onto the body. sometimes weapons were just floating there on your hip in oblivion. and the arrows on my back always went up though my hair. this wasn't a horrible issue because always forgot about it 10 seconds after i noticed it, but fixing it would make me happy.

No. Because then my body will be filled with swords, hammers, axes and pick locks.

I think your syntax is a little off, I think you was suppose to ask, would we like to equip more then one weapon. And my answer would be - Yes I would : )

I vote yes, but there needs to be a way to determine what weapons you are using and which ones are just sitting in your inventory to be sold. I would not mind an inventory system as basic as Diablo II's. You have your slots, you fill your slots, and everything else is in your inventory. In an elder scrolls game, what is in your slots is visible in one way or another and what is in your holding inventory is not visible.

Rather than something as primitive & out dated as a 2d character gear slot page, I think a 3d representation of the player character would work much better.
BGS has already stated that items will be able to be viewed in 3d in the inventory, so it's the next logical evolution to a character equipment assignment menu.

It's not really practical. That's why samurai don't use shields. They often used bows as well as swords.
Steel was also less common... but there was no reason for shields because a longbow could pierce them regardless, which is why projectile weapons made metal armor obselete.
To switch from sword & shield to bow would require the shield to be dropped.

Yeah, I didn't think that would be possible. Oh well. For role playing purposes, that fact might give you a strategic choice to make though if you're so inclined, so it's not all bad.
