Non-Equiped weapons still on character.

Post » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:41 am

this especially bugs me as i am a stealth archer class whenever i equip my blade, usually only a small one at that my bow disappears off my back,

do you think it'd be better if it was to stay put on your back, but could be unequipped if you didnt want it there?

That'd only work if you had multiple weapon slots to switch between. Otherwise, how would you determine which weapons get displayed?

Would be a very good idea to have multiple slots, would help to switch between weapon sets quickly.

Yea, it annoyed me that i was carrying a load of stuff and it wasn't even displayable that i was carrying it.
If you have a Bow, a Dagger a Sword and a Mace, and your using one of them, the rest of them should be
hanging on your belt or on your back.
There should also be a limit on how many weapons you can carry, i found it a little unrealistic that i could
carry 20 weapons.

Just a thought i suppose

Off Topic:

I also think Food and Water should be more necessary than it was in previous games, otherwise, whats the point
of even having it in the game.
The idea of traveling through the land and suddenly realizing your very hungry, seems plausible.

If they did make it were multiple weapons are visible it would only work with say a dagger and a bow or something maybe two swords crossing over your back.

would work with a dagger on the shoe (similar to the dark brotherhood member uniform) one on the back MGS4 style two weapons short sword and longsword or heavy weapon like ACB. A sheild on your back (which personally hope is default) and the two weapons your holding (or one) in the place of the longsword spot and on the right side of your body in the same spoit

One 2handed weapon (including bows & quiver) on back
or two1handed weapons crossed on back
or a 1handed weapon & shield on back

One dagger on chest strap, one dagger on back of belt
One single handed weapon per hip

I think that covers all the spots aside from boot daggers.

Maybe have slots based on favorites list. Ex: you are alowwed a single handed weapon on your hip and a two handed weapon on your back based on weapons you have in your favorites list. So you could have bow and arrows on your back and a single handed weapon sheathed on your hip.

I know it may be difficult to implement and still look cool, but I'd like to see some kind of pack for smaller items (Maybe multiple packs) and multiple weapon sheathes so that you can have your main few, and have a space for other ones you come across. It's difficult to explain, but I have an image in my head for how it could work and still look awesome.

Game could have a check to see which one is used more? I don't know. I was just throwing something out there.

This is something that I would like as well. But with the possibility of dozens of weapons in the inventory, i'm not sure how this could be done.

If there is/was a finite number of "Favorite" slots you could equip, that is how it ~could~ be determined. I'd love to see it, but I don't expect to at all. The only thing I see as "Possible" is being able to have Your bow, and a melee weapon visible, because of that one peculiar screenshot.

here's where I think weapons would go: knives on your calves, swords at your hip, quiver on your back, bow/twohander on other side of your back(a la oblivion) shield on arm.

I suppose they could do with multiple slots (similar to Red Dead)

Primary 1 (sword, axe, bow ect)
Primary 2 (another sword, shield ect)
Secondary (daggers?)

Yes, a sort of "sheathed" slot would be a very cool addition, IMO.

There's a piece of concept art that hints at this. The one with the player facing off against a bear with a slain mammoth.

What they need to do, is have it so you can only equip weapons in the menu. But you use hotkeys to swap between equipped weapons. So you can equip maybe, a 2h sword, a swordsword/shield combo, and a bow. Then use the 1-3 keys to swap between those or something, and you character swaps them about as you do. That would be great!

If the hotkey "circle" is in Skyrim (like Oblivion and Fallout) it could be as simple as making the bottom slot display on your back, the right slot hang on your right hip. and the left slot on your left hip. Maybe make the bottom slot the only slot 2h weapons(and staffs) can go in. (to keep from having a bow or a claymore hanging on your hip) I would like to see something emplimented that displayed more than one weapon. The idea of seeing a archer swich to his/her short sword when the enemy closes the distance, or a mage slinging his/her staff across their back so they can dual weild a spell, or even a warrior putting their claymore on their back to use the small axe on their hip in tight quarters just makes sense. Having a weapon just disappear has always bothered me...

i think that whatever you put in your first 3 quick slots (apart from spells), be it a potion, a helmet, a chunk of meat or a weapon, whatever you put in your first 3 quick selection slots should be visible on your character, thats the simplest way i can think of it. the only problem is it'd take a good bunch of days to get it to work, i doubt they're going to do this for us i mean this is some detail work, its not like it'll make the game better, just cooler, we don't know bethesda for focusing on trivial matters. but it might possibly be moddable by some of our most advanced modders. by using the skyrim script extender.

You don't really need ready slots for this, just show the last weapons used as secondary as most people will switch between two or three.
And yes you can carry lots of swords in a backpack in real world, 20 will be a bit heavy load but quite possible. However this would be loot not ready weapons.
