Non level scaling mods

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 3:48 am

Hi all please can someone advise me on the best overhaul mod that removes level scaling from the game (and dont make every monster harder when i level) and adds more content. Ive looked at threads and seen mixed opinions please can you give me some good advice.

I have all the DLCs and Shivering isles expansion so it would be nice if these were supported but not a must.

It doesn't touch them, unfortunately. Not sure what would work for SI. Though, it's nice for the Oblivion worldspace all the same.

OOO was the first overhaul I played with, and I remeber it fondly :).

As for other options, it depends on what you are looking for. I'd recommend to read up on OOO (http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15256), TIE (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35265), as well as MMM(http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17784), Frans (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2518), and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39202.

Or, if you are experienced with modding, you could try FCOM (http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12249).

To my knowledge, MMM and Frans both support SI.

TIE, however, is very elegant at what it does, it doesn't add as much extra stuff compared to other overhauls, but rather preserves the Oblivion feel rebalancing mechanics and difficulty. It's especially great if you planning to play a thief-ish character. I recently began playing it, after years of having FCOM as a standard install, and I don't think I'll be turning back from it :).

You can also mix most of them to an extent, if you are careful, follow their instructions and have some patience with Wyre Bash.

Those two alone are good enough to start out. Just prepare your system to handle the mod and ya would do fine.

Read the Readme is always a given.

Load order also tend to be important but a program call http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 helps alot in this.

Also, rheia's and deaths_soul's comment is also helpful with some good info/link on these overhaul.

Not to be too persnickity but OOO and MMM do not remove level scaling. Instead they alter it.

A bit outdated but the core concepts are still good in the:http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/820948-scaling-overhaul-comparison/

What unscaled means is that all reference to the player character's level is removed and all creatures and loot can be encountered from level 1 up. The mods that attempt to remove level scaling are: TIE, WAC, and OWC ND.

Initially these are harder, but then as you go on there is a chance to meet lower than you as well.

For SI, there is an overhaul that supposedly complements FCOM well: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34245

Ha ha ha. Yes, it's normal. I get about one CTD every hour or two. I've learned to take them in stride.
