"Non-Playable" Objects

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2016 8:45 pm

I'm looking at items in TES5Edit. I'm seeing a handful of movable static items I've placed in my mod that is BYOH and marked as not playable in vanilla. I suppose that by me just placing them in my mod they automatically become "playable" and are identified as such in TES5Edit.

Could this be a problem with the BYOH vanilla houses? These items appear to be used for the building process that occurs in the 3 houses in HF.

I'm guessing, and this is just a guess, that that is what marks them as the objects that can get moved around but you can't actually pick up or interact with.

I don't know if changing that flag will matter, however.

These are actually, MISCITEMS under the Object Window Items, not moveable statics. However, it seems like the OBND-Object Bounds is where there is a difference between vanilla and my mod. Some items do get resized by me occasionally; other than that not sure why this is showing here. I changed a few already to statics to get rid of the tag in TES5Edit, but I think I'll leave the rest (only a few) for now. Have not seen any problems so far in the couple of playthroughs I've done, including in areas outside my mod.

Will wait for more feedback here.

Its probably ok, resizing items in the 3d window shouldn't affect the base record AFAIK

The majority of the BYOH non-playable Misc Items are the inventory tokens for the statics you're building, not the items themselves.

Thank you for the link. Question is, will using these in my mod result in a problem for the vanilla HF houses and mods that also use those features to build a house?? Apparently, by just placing these in my mod, they turned to "playable" because I did not make any modifications to these whatsoever.

No, it won't affect other mods, but those items were never intended to be placed. The furniture items, for example, will not act as furniture, as they have no use markers. You can't sit on the chairs, sleep in the beds... They probably aren't working in your mod, except as static decor.

There are just a handful in the mod that I used more as statics, such as a trophy mount or a table. No real furniture such as chairs and so forth. My only concern is will it cause issues and, if not, I'll leave them. Thanks ghastley!
