Noob tree question

Post » Sun Jan 23, 2011 12:34 am

Hey Everyone. :)

I've been modding MW for years, but I'm brand new to the G.E.C.K. and I have a problem that is driving me nuts! :brokencomputer:

I'm modifying a piece of suburb southwest of Canterbury Commons and need to remove a couple of trees. My problem is that after removing them in the G.E.C.K., there are "billboard" type trees where they were originally when I go there in-game. Any idea how to go about getting rid of them?

Thanks in advance. :D

Those are LOD trees. You have to regenerate the LOD for that area (probably the whole wasteland).
Thats why I never remove existing LOD objects, its a PitB.

Thanks for the quick response. :)

One more question (for now anyway :) ), will regenerating cause incompatibilities (dirtiness) in my mod? As I said, I'm a total noob. :)

Well, if you can determine which LOD file to associate with your quadrant of the wasteland, you can minimize the impact. You really do not want to upload the LOD data for the entire wasteland with your mod when you release it.

And its not as easy as 'generating LOD'. I spent a week researching it and trying to get one apple tree added to the wasteland for one of my mods. I can't even remember how its all done now because its not an intuitive process.

So, I do not remove objects, I build around them.

Thanks a ton! :D

From the looks of it you saved me a lot of work. I'm not that far into my mod so starting over sounds better than fighting LOD objects. :) Learn something every day. :)

I appreciate the help! :foodndrink:
