Noobie: My Hallways or rooms disappear

Post » Mon Aug 12, 2013 10:41 am

Hi my name is Devon, and I'm having some trouble with the creation kit. I'm pretty darn new to all of this, but I want to learn to mod and since I already own Skyrim for PC I thought I'd give this a shot. So, the tutorial provided by the Wiki page for the Creation Kit is super helpful for new people to learn how to use the program. However, I'm having trouble and need some help from you more experienced people.

So, I learned how to create rooms and hallways (hooray!) I know to look for any "gaps" in the layout of the hallway and/or room before proceeding to test. So I have, and I can complete a room and attached hallway with a room at the opposite end, and when I go to playtest it inside Skyrim the following happens:

1) The hallway disappears.

2) One of the rooms disappears.

3) The entire thing disappears

I've made 2 rooms with an attached hallway multiple times now, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong to have it disappear =/ Help?

Are you making your mod the "Active" plugin? double checking to make sure its set to active before you load it?

Are you loading your game when you're character is in the initerior?

sounds like it isn't one of these, just going over the basics

Yea, when you click Data and you double click your esp I make sure that the mod I'm working with is the only one double checked and it asks if you want to make it the active plugin when you load it I think.

When I load in skyrim I'm on my tester character in riverwood, and then I use the console command

"COC (dungeon name)"

To teleport myself to the place I'm making. In this instance, it's 1 room with a hallway that leads into another room. The rooms are empty, and so is the hallway.

Sounds like you copied a vanilla cell and didn't delete the roombounds. Thus your level is being 'culled' by the old dungeons optimizations.

Go to View > Show/Hide and check ROom bounds/portals (Or whatever it says), then delete the giant blue primitives, and the black planes that connect them.
