Noooooooo! Pleaser help with this GOTY problem

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 4:50 pm

I live in the U.S. and just received my Fallout 3 GOTY edition, but it has a different product code than my original game. I don't want to open it unless someone can confirm that it will work with my original saved data. I have the ps3 version and the original's code is 30185, but the GOTY's code is 30451. I have heard of recent problems with their compatability, but only in Canada. Please help me. It is my birthday and I just finished taking my PSAT. It is 1 P.M. here and I don't want to waste my entire birthday worrying about compatability

Well, we can only assume that the BLUS codes are the problem. Is there anyway for you to exchange it?

I can get my money back as long as I don't open it, I believe. I need a ps3 player to confirm if the two codes will work.

This is quite frustrating. I am sitting here with the product I have been waiting months for, but am wasting my birthday sitting here.

That is the only code they have. Didn't you get the GOTY edition? Someone on these forums has to have bought the same product as me. I need a confirmation.

Okay, thanks. This can be locked now.

I have been waiting months to play all the DLC, and only have BS downloaded. Commencing gaming experience.

The only reason the product code would have an effect is because you're trying to install it; its a form of copy prevention.

However, that only applies to the PC. For Game consoles, there is a line of code within the game that says that it "belongs" to that type of console; the code usually cannot be burned, so it also acts as a form of copy prevention without some kind of console hack.

Back to that game code; what it is is probably just an ID the manufacturer uses to tell the difference between the GOTY edition of Fallout and the normal version of Fallout. It'll have no effect on your game.
