Do Nords stink?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:02 am

That is my question. I can understand if someone is a messenger and has been running. But do Nords take care so that they don't smell of stink, or does every village need an HR department?

I know a Scandanavian woman at work. She smells great.

So I'm gonna go with . . . no.

I don't think how your character smells matters in Skyrim.

Everybody stinks in the elder scrolls world. They didn't have showers and there are not bath tubs in every single home. Bathing back in the medieval days was a pain in the ass because you didn't have electric turbines to pump water to everybody's house or shack.
So yes, Nords definitely stink... to us. But the funny thing about stink is that when you are around it long enough, you don't smell it. So to a 21st century american, yes, Nords, and every other race on Nirn, most likely has body odor or stinks, including royalty. But if you were to ask a Nord if he thinks she/he stinks, the answer would probably be no. You guys get the point.

What about Ancient romans?
Flushing toilets and hot baths?

Hygiene has always been a human want, The dark ages seen a drastic back pedaling. That's why the plaque came about.
