Northern Elsweyr

Post » Tue Nov 24, 2009 4:43 pm

Any info on Northern Elsweyr especially geography and cities, namely Dune, Orcrest, and especially Rimmen. On Rimmen, I need info on the lowerclass and criminal world, plus targets a thief would go after that would get him in ALOT of trouble and be hard to steal from. Thanks!

I think the Northern parts of the province is harsh, sandy deserts with lots of various tribes fighting over sugar. I know they have more of a warrior culture then the tribes in the south.

You might wish to start your search http://www.imperial-library.info/pge/elsweyr.shtml. You might also find http://www.imperial-library.info/pge3/elsweyr.shtml useful. http://www.imperial-library.info/fsg/philarticle1.shtml also refers to Rimmen. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

I always thought of Elsweyr as a desert landscape, but I would think that the further north you go the greener and more forests you would see because of the proximity to Cyrodill.

Aye that's kind of what I think of Elsweyr as well.

Most of it is desert while more north it's more green and maybe even a "rainforest" at the northern coast.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the north is mostly desert if you go by the lore, while the south and south east is mostly wooded areas and such.

The south are where the moon sugar fields are.

North is just a bunch of deserts and wadis.

Yeah, The cane fields where they gather the moon sugar is mostly around Torval from what I hear, and that is in the south-east.

No problem. The only reason I know alot about the Khajit and Elsweyr is because they are my all time favorite race so I read all I can about them.

Geography and climates in Tamriel don't make a damn bit of sense.

It's posible that Elsweyr is mostly a plateau, which would make it very dry and desert like.

Also, basically all of south Elsweyr is forested by the Tenmar [rain]Forest.

When somebody says Elsweyr, I think of green forests with lots of rainfalls. And cities like Knothel Glade (from Fable) and only inhabited by Khajits. I think we should play Arena to know?

The main lore on Rimmen is it's border disputes, which is also basically the only lore there is. Senchal however is more notorius for a criminal underworld, and Torval having the Mane's Palace would most likely have items to steal, however they are both in south Elsweyr.

well, a quick search of TIL brings up several possibilities as to treasure. Akaviri artifacts might still be left over from the Tsaesci occupation of Rimmen. the halls of colosus were also near Rimmen, which could have led to some cool scholarly artifacts or something. there was also a small mention of a large smuggling business going on in Rimmen in the PGE3

hope that helps

In Arena it was said to be a place "built to honour a race of giants". But that clearly svcked, so it was http://www.imperial-library.info/interviews/skelm.shtml to be the factory where http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/dragonbroke.shtml

Thanks. And yes! Very perceptive! Gustave Moreau is one of my favourites ever since a passage in Huysmans's A Rebours led me to it.
