Not becoming leader of the minute men

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:10 am

Hi all

If I decline Preston's offer of becoming leader of the Minutemen will I then be able to avoid the never ending quests he keeps giving me? So go as far as helping them out in Concord and let them settle Sanctuary but then not become leader, I'm really enjoying the game apart from this aspect...

Thanks

You mean join the minutemen and build the teleporter with them and not have to do those annoying settlement/farm quests which is pretty much the same quest over and over and over and over and over and ov- :banghead:

I feel your pain brother!

I mean go as far as when Preston asks you to be the new leader of the minutemen (very early on in Sanctuary) and decline his offer, would that stop him clogging up my quest log?

You might be able to bring up the console or dig through the .ini files and find the line where it says something like "Minutemen settlements saved 0%" and change the value (Note, that's not what it's called. It's likely called something else entirely). Or otherwise change a quest value from 0/false to 1/true to enable that quest for the teleporter. If you change the "settlement" value, you might want to do it after saving them from the raiders first, to make sure you don't get dumped with the quest as soon as you talk to Preston, which may or may not get you stuck in the game. I'd probably enable it once he starts giving me the quests to make sure not to break anything.

Mod to add more random quests, please. Why are we still "Fixing" what shouldn't be broke again?

Well you'd always have that one 'Talk to Preston Garvey' quest til you join... but yeah. He won't give you radiant quests.

You could accept and do his quests then never talk to him again. Those quests will eventually complete on their own as long as you've done them.

Yep. Radio Freedoms quests seem to be timed, but not Preston's.
