It's not my fault I abused smithing

Simply tieing the skill gain to item value would resolve a lot of this. Its obvious people didnt expect to level the skill so fast. Had it been tied to item value, it would have taken a more determined effort to reach 100, and many players would have played the game along the way to break up the monotony (and find materials). Im surprised they didnt do this as its the same lesson they learned last time around with tieing skills to weapon hits instead of damage etc

Edit also having rare materials at vendors was a bit silly. Just have high tier armors needing a bunch of regular materials (available from vendors) plus 1or2 rare materials you have to go fight for, then you feel like you earned that op armor

I would like to reiterate:

How is this even an issue? The whole basis for complaint is utter nonsense. Nothing in the game forces you to blow however long it takes crafting crappy iron daggers just to run your smithing skill up inorganically. Even if you regret it now, nothing in the game forces you to USE said overpowered gear. There is no PvP, so this so-called exploit harms nobody! (unless of course you for some reason decide it would be beneath you to actual do something about the system you are complaining about, by using less-artificially-awesome found gear, in which case, apparently it's causing you some harm) If you want to be a pissbaby and whine about "why should I use weaker gear, ugh?" then you really don't want a solution to your problem, you just like whining and calling attention to your petty, meaningless problems. For F's sake

Sigh.... please either see the rest of the thread where your argument has been brought up and responded to at least a dozen times and/or read the OP, where I think I relatively clearly state "I probably won't [level smithing] on my next character". I say I think it was clear because this is probably the third time someone has said something that doesn't make much sense in light of the first paragraph of the OP.

That was a terrible response to be honest. Not one person has justified the claim that all games are supposed to be challenging. Its a faulty basis for the whole argument, and patently untrue.
