Not my first choice

I played Clay Fighters on the SNES when I was young, and I liked it ok, but to be honest if I were allocating money into a new game it wouldn't be another Clay Fighters game. I mean, there are so many things that would do well, and a Clay Fighter game just isn't one of them. Bland and Generic isn't the way to go either, just not Clay Fighters...

The ClayFighter series has had a pretty successful run (C2:Judgement Clay aside) on both the SNES and N64. It's by far one of the most creative fighters out there in it's design and game play. With the renewal of several popular fighting franchises on the rise like Street Fighter 4, Tekken 6, King of Fighters XII, and Samurai Showdown: Edge of Destiny, this would probably prove to be the best time to allocate money into a new ClayFighter game. There's actually quite a following for the series, and many like myself are eager to see what gamesas's come up with for CF4. I can't wait to toss snowballs, turn into buzz saws, and just plain beat the clay stuffing out of my friends again like I did back on the SNES. The fact that it's also going to be released as a downloadable title on the DSi will make it one of the first traditional fighting games (at least in the states) to be released on any of the DS systems, which is pretty monumental for fighting fans waiting for some action on the DS. If you ask me, an addition to the series has been long overdue and I'm glad to see gamesas finally bringing the franchise back for another round! I'm bad, I'm cool, I'm no one's fool.

I think over all it's just that the gener is kind of dead, and if someone wanted a game in the gener now they'd likely go with a more serious game like Tekkan 6 or the next Soul Calibur. Clay Fighters was fun, I liked Bad Mr Frosty personally, but I just can't see it doing well in todays market.

Then again I'm not a marketing expert, just a gamer.

I'm really no marketing person either, and with so many gamers having memories of the series not living up to cheese, I can see how someone wouldn't care whether or not a new ClayFighter game came out... As far as dead genre's go, Fighting is still going pretty strong. I guess most people would prefer to play something more serious, but the fact of the matter is games are supposed to be fun, not serious. ClayFighter's great cause it can offer those gamers who actually want to throw their controllers down in frustration a new chance to take a game too seriously, as well as give casual gamers something fun and interesting to play. In the end it's those gamers who are caught in the middle, still playing their NES and Super Nintendo because they don't really care what next big generic title comes out for the 360, who are gonna get the most out of a new ClayFighter. So long as gamesas can still hold to the source material, make it fun and exciting for new players, give it a solid and strong game mechanic, and still retain the goofiness that ClayFighter is known for, I think we can find that this next installment will be worth looking forward to.

Stay cool. I'm bad, I'm cool, I'm no one's fool.
