Not Gaining Xp....what Gives?

Post » Tue Jan 04, 2011 1:34 pm

I've put this thread in the mods section since I am using mods.

Don't worry about the VTXH mod, its not being used and is a [WiP]. I was using Arwen's XP mod but since deleted it. Several days ago I was almost at level 10 but then all of a sudden without warning it my XP points dropped down to 9875. It says I need 16000 points to hit level 10. Now, I just went in a slaughtered Megaton. It kept telling me I had gained +2 XP here, +35 XP there, +22 XP over there. However, when I checked my stat screen, no matter what XP was earned during my murderous rampage my level never increased from 9875. I thought it was because of Arwen's XP mod. So, I removed it. I thought it was had something to FWE and removed the one mod thathad to do with levelingbut nothing changes. This is becoming an issue now as I am in the middle of several quests that I can no longer advance through due to my "skill" levels. I need to level-up so that I can move ahead on the quests. Since I haven't been able to gain XP even though it is saying I am I can not level-up so basically, I'm stuck where I am and becoming extremely bored because I can't do anything.

Am I forever stuck at the beginning stages of Level 9? If I have to restart my game I'm going ot be somewhat annoyed. I understand I can use the console to set my level at whatever I want but I shouldn't have to do it everytime. "Please Obi Wan, You're my only hope." Any help offered is greatly appreciated.

Here is my load order.

I see one of my mods there, I've never seen that in a load order before :hugs:

As to your issue I had something similar but couldn't get past level 7, plus my load order is a fair bit longer. In the end I just started over as I couldn't figure it out.

As you use FWE you don't need any MMM additional plugins, like Tougher Traders. You really only need the main esm and esp and the DLC esps if you use those. So, you can take out mart's mutant mod - tougher traders.esp. Actually I see no MMM.esm so I'm surprised your game loads at all.
It's probably minor, but DLC's usually go in order of release, so Point Lookout should be before Zeta.

Not sure if you need a Merged Patch, someone more knowledgeable will know for sure.

That's all I can think of. Remove the lone Mart's plugin and move Point Lookout.esm. Doubtful that it'd miraculously fix your problem, but it's a start :)

My Reduced XPR mod could not cause this. All that mod does is reduce the amount of XPR you receive . . . it doesn't prevent your from receiving points.

Mystyk,

Thats yoru Harkness mod. Unfortunately, since I"m not leveling up I can't advance any further in the "Replicated Man Quest". My PC doesn't swim.....ever, too many rads.. So he needs to breach the door in order to see Pinkerton.

Arwen,

I figured as much. But it kind of started when I swapped from your Leveling "Lite" mod to the "Extreme" one on accident. I am receiving XP points just not leveling...ever. The gauge never moves.

As for MMM. It wasn't inlcuded in teh version of FWE I'm running. I'm not running 5.01 I'm a version or two back. I DLed Tougher Traders later on and added it, I didn't want my merchants being killed off. Seems to work fairly well for me.

I'll check my load order again. I originally had PL before Zeta but I was having issues with it. So, I'll try and move them around again.

EDIT:

Checked the load order through FO3Edit and it does load PL before Zeta even though through FOMM it shows it the other way.

I'm not at all sure what's going on. There isn't any reason I can think of why XP isn't registering. If the XP gains are being displayed, you should be getting them added to your XP.

Try opening the console and typing: player.rewardxp 1000

Or something like that and seeing if your xp goes up.

My Reduced XPR mod is an extremely simple mod . . . all it does is replace the default multipliers in the XPR settings with lower values. That's it. It does NOT add anything at all new. There are no scripts or anything that could possibly prevent you from receiving the reduced points. And it only affects the amount of XPR points that you receive after installing my mod (until you remove it). It doesn't alter the number of points that are required to level up.

If you uninstall my mod, you just revert to the default values. You can safely switch between the regular version and the extreme version at any time.

Arwen,

I know. I've been using your mod for a very long time. I love it. I didn't think it was your mod. I just said I noticed the cease in gaining XP when I accidentally added yoru Exteme version whilst already running yoru lite version.

I did notice now that I am gaining Xp, the gauge did move this time but it takes a rediculous amount of time now. Not sure what is actually going on.

I know FWE slows things down XP and levelling-wise. I use its default setting of Slower Levelling (the one under 0), the slowest I can set it to though do level up over time. I have Darn UI and don't actually see the pointer moving along the bar (as I have that disabled) but usually see the green XP amount I get each time.

If it's taking such a long time to level up perhaps go into the FWE Controller thingie and set it to level a bit faster

That's all I can think of.

FWE increases the XP you need to level up by ALOT.
Arwen's mod decreased the XP you get by ALOT.

What the hell do you expect when you use both together?

Also remove all these mods from your loadorder, they're not needed anymore:
kh_fwe fixes.esp
kh_fwe tweaks.esp
kh_noammoweight.esp
kh_223ex.esp
kh_fwe unlimited followers(brokensteel).esp
mart's mutant mod - tougher traders.esp

Kai,

I don't have the newest version of FWE. Those mods are whatever was packaged with the last release. I haven't downloaded the newer version yet. As for the rediculous slowing of my leveling via both FWE and Arwens' mod. I understood that when I installed both of them. However, I was leveling quite regularly with both of them installed up until recently.

At any rate, I'm going to DL the newest version of FWE.

Thanks for the help guys. I deleted those erroneous ,ods and updated FWE and found that the game runs a lot smoother and now I'm gaining XP a little more frequently than before.
