As long as I can make my characters face ugly as all hell, I dont mind missing anything.

Your crusade might have been pointless in the end, but it seems much more fun to me than having a guide telling me exactly what to do. At E3, Todd Howard started his speech by saying games are a rather special media because they can give us the feeling of "discovery",, not a lot of things can do that.
And the very first time I personaly play a game like this is something else and it's also a one time feeling, since the next time you play you know things.
Oh and before I forget, using the best loot and gear IMO is not that fun in Betgesda games, the game can get very easy after that, especially if you power game to it,, but if it comes to you naturaly as you play, you would enjoy the journy to it a lot.
That's just the way I play, there is absolutely no reason one should play like this :P

the problem with the Wiki is that unfortunatly for a while after launch you will see a lot of odd posts of people trying to list contents of individual containers such as dufel bags as if those were Fixed loot, and occasionally people just posting Verbatim incorrect information from the Strategy guide, that is when someone was not posting flawed information for whatever reason. Usually it takes a couple of months for it to settle out

It's just meta-gaming - I do it to, when I replay a game (the first run is "blind" most of the time though), so no - it's not bad.

Blind Playthroughs are amazing, I did it for Witcher 3 and was not disappointed at all. If I get to a point where I'm content with Fallout 4 info, I'm shutting down, except for checking articles about Bug info. :fallout:

I don't want to know what's going on plot-wise, but I have to know everything about character building in order to avoid restartitis. Nothing will get me scrapping a character faster than learning that my initial skill or perk picks weren't what I expected and that something else would have been a better choice. This puts me in the position of either having to abort my initial character to start over (which spoils my initial game to an extent) or to have to extensively research exactly how things like stats, skills and perks are used in the game.

It's sometimes hard to become appropriately familiar with the mechanics of the game while avoiding spoilers about the world and story. :(

That's what previous saves are for.

for somethine like that, you should not NEED to go to a previous save. the game SHOULD tell you in dialogue that it cannot be disarmed.

Not it is...

...actually reviews tend to especified what the movie make you feel and even understand a bit about a plot that is resume in reviews. (It depends on the reviewers and if so the review contain spoilers without you knowing.)

Is like when you watch a 1minute or 2minutes trailer instead a teaser of 30 or 20 seconds. (You get it now)

I will be playing the first night, and I tend to follow the suggested story arc on my first time through. BGS games have taught me to look everywhere to find the good stuff, so I will try to take notes so I can find the good stuff quicker on successive plays of the game.

The best part about single player games, and especially BGS games, is the freedom it gives you and me to play as we see fit. No "wrong" way to play.

Exactly. If you dont want to be surprised, then dont.

You always havr the option of buying a guide at release, which I did for Skyrim (and also bought for Oblivion when I purchased it). What I do is to try not to use the book for quests, people, etc. I focus on just item lists and the bestiary so I know things for crafting and character setup. At least for my first playthrough. Second time through I will follow up on a few things just to make sure I did it "right".

I like to play blind. Fallout is a story, sometimes you make poor choices, but you can always replay it later.

PKM is right. Im sorry, but I think Tranquility Lane was the hardest quest without help.

I don't usually look things up on the internet, but Tranquility Lane sent me to the Wiki. That quest had me stumped.

My procedure is usually to try to figure things out on my own for a bit. I make a good faith effort to figure problems out, but when I begin to feel frustrated I don't hesitate to look the answer up on the internet.

The way I see it, life is too short to put up with frustration in video games. It isn't worth it. So if I feel myself getting frustrated by a puzzle like Tranquility Lane I look the answer up. If I can't find the answer I'll abandon the quest and do something else. If I can't do something else I'll stop playing the game and play some other game.

Reading a guide might be good for some games that I'm only going to play through once but Bethesda games are, omgosh, so much better just going in, not knowing anything and exploring.

The second play through I might use a guide or if I really get stuck on something.

Now maps on the other hand ~ maps are great. If I have a paper map I am a happy person.

If using a guide before hand makes you happy though, I say go for it. :)

I accidentally found the 'failsafe' in the Tranquility Lane quest just exploring. I didn't even talk to most of the NPCs and stuff.

I love the game guides books. the only ones I have are for borderlands 1 and 2, pokemon silver, dragons dogma, and skyrim I love taking them into the john and settle down and look for the beastiary section to find more onfo on creatures or enemy npc's who are giving me trouble I rarely use it for quest though. And when i do its for a quest Im stuck on well untill the wiki page is filled out better.

Considering the 'difficulty' of the puzzles in Skyrim (Bear, Dragon, Wolf), I doubt we'll need a wiki for help.

Fallout 3 had MUCH better puzzles over all, so HOPEFUILL they have learned their lesson from all the issues skyrim had and make one more similar to fallout 3 and Oblivion...........but i am only going to hope, and still expect skyrim....IN THE FUTURE!!!!

Handholding and lack of puzzles don't go together. What's the point of these quests?!?!? Come on, BGS. I wanna be a detective, not your errand runner.

there is a VERY large difference between handholding/spoonfeeding every bit of info and simply being told things that make it so you can still guess it.

Not being told about ANYTHING related to something and the only way of discovering it is purely by accident is just as bad game design as being spoon-fed absolutely everything.
