Not having kids, but adopting them?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 6:00 pm

Ok, your in a town and there is a poor child leaning against a building. You go up to the child and talk, go through a few dialouge sequences to find out he/she has no parents. If you have good speech, you can convince the child to have you as a guardian/parent. The kid will follow you around, or stay in one spot. If there is danger, the child runs to the nearest settlement. He/she can hold a limited amount of stuff too.

First thread BTW

Why do I need a kid when I have the ever reliable Adoring Fan on my side??? No matter how many times he gets killed in an Oblivion portal, he always comes back to support me in my endeavors!

What would this bring to the gameplay?

An annoying stupid NPC getting stuck around and losing your precious gear to random mobs... Oh nevermind, kids can't be killed...

I'd rather have the ability to have children first. Makes more sense, someone will need to care for the child. Having a kid follow you around through dungeons, or ever waiting outside while you go in is just silly.

I want children in for atmospheric reasons, but I don't want to have to look after it or whatever. Just have 'em hanging around.

I would love to be able to do that. And in a time of civil war, it wouldn't be too uncommon to find homeless children and teenagers. Although teenagers will probably be fending for themselves but young children will probably be helpless, depending on how they were raised. But yes, I would love to be able to have a kid or two follow me around if I so choose. The option should be there. For those that despise children, then they can choose to not have them as their side.
