Not killing the Doc in Goodsprings

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 10:51 pm

In the Goodsprings conflict, I have tried siding with both sides and think I prefer most of the benefits of siding with the Powder Gangers.
Discount with Chet, more liked by Powder Gangers at prison, items in Goodsprings takeable without stealing.

However it is a pain that you have to kill Doc Mitchell as he is the only Doctor in that part of the map that provides all services.

I am just starting a new unarmed run and recieved some boxing gloves from the Doc (because I have unarmed as tagged skill)
They made me think. If I attack and knockout Doc Mitchell with the gloves during the fight. Would it count as successfully defeating everyone but allow him to get back up afterwards and still be available for heals?

The Powder Gangers won't stop attacking him though.

And doesn't the PG doctor offer all kinds of services?

Ah right. So even if I knock him out, the PGers will realize he is not dead and keep attacking him? Shame.

Oh and Hannigan unfortunately can not remove radiation (which is the main thing I use Doctors for) or remove addictions either :(

Well. There are other doctors, and other solutions. Hannigan does sell Radaway, right? And addictions are a lesser priority, since they aren't exactly life threatening.

If you get an in with the BoS (not all that hard even at Lvl 6) you can use Scribe Schuler. Otherwise, you're gonna have to travel all the way to Novac.

If you kill Doc Mitchell and side with the Powder Gangers they have a doctor at the NCR Detention Center which is revealed on your map after helping them.

You can side with goodsprings and let the citizens kill the powder gangers and you wont get vilified thus allowing you to goto the prison and still do thier quests. Boom 2 doctors and 2 merchants. :hubbahubba:

Because its nice to side with the "bad guys".

Also you could roleplay someone who thinks they are the best courier or merc around. Getting caught and "left for dead" prooves that to be wrong so must kill all who know about the incident effectively erasing it from history.

You could also roleplay someone who was locked up or had family that was locked up unjustly and thus want revenge against the ncr so side with other inmates.

You could also just be anti NCR so you see the inmates as allies more so than goodsprings who doest want to take sides.

Just 4 thoughts, I am sure there are others.

take the perk that removes rads over time.
way better to simply wait 24 hours in game to remove rads, than to travel to a doctor or use precious rad-aways.
btw, it appears the max rad resistance cannot go higher than 85% regardless of what you do, i was hoping for 100% (console version).

What else are you gonna use rad away for?

Once your medicine skill is high enough, 1 radx gets you to 85percent, no reason to take rad resistance or carry clothing items that give rad resist.

the idea was to give more time to explore irradiated areas without having to use up all the rad-aways in doing so.

I decided to side with the powder gangers in the end. As mentioned I can use the doc in Novac. I think I will take the rad perk eventually. It is quite late game though so won't be able to get it soon.

My current character is rotten to the core, but won't be helping either of those groups. You don't have to be Evil to back those groups, for that matter, although it seems that almost everyone who backs them does so with such a character.

I tend to not back those groups simply because it's seldom worth it for me to alienate the NCR, especially early on, since they control most of the map and provide a goodly portion of the merchants. My character's alignment is independent of who I back, as both are based on the role rather than on each other.

yes.
unfortunately at that level too.
i spent alot of time doing other things leveling up to get that perk so i wouldnt have to worry about radiation levels climbing each time consuming irradiated drinks/foods, in addition to other reasons.
