Also tried disabling the realtek audio altogether but it did not help........ wasted my day off it seems, huray to Bethesha.

Looks like my on board Intel HD Graphics 4600 isn't going to run this. Why doesn't it just tell me so in the set-up section? Pre-ordered the game to find I now have to spend THREE TIMES the cost of the damn game on a graphics card? And I won't know if that is the problem until AFTER I have spent that money and installed the card. I feel like I am being bent over and shafted here....

This is bullcrap...the second i click Play from the launcher, it loads for like 2 seconds then crashes back to the desktop saying something similar to "There was an unexpected problem playing Fallout 4"

I tried to uninstall my realtek and then restart and playing and now its the same, almost now lasting for 2 sec before it is shuting down ( i moved the files to my SSD maybe thats why its closing faster?)

anyway same issue can not run the game at all and breaks on start./

thank you for the idea though.

will try with the new driviers and see if they would make any dif but i dont think so.

I submitted the problem to Bethesda Support.

Fallout 4 does not start and gives no error. It just does not run.

Tried the latest beta drivers from AMD
Latest non beta drivers from AMD
Latest Realtek HD audio drivers
Disabling Realtek audio in bios and running it on my samsung TV monitor with the samsung audio drivers.
Running steam as admin
Running Fallout 4 as admin
Installing latest Fallout 4 beta patch
Veryfying the game's cache
Tried Windowed, windowed borderless
Tried all graphics settings from the launcher
Tried running it straight from the directory (fallout 4.exe)
Tried Windows 7 compatibility mode on both the exe files
Disabling the firewall and antivirus
Disabling the second monitor

Already got an email with the same things everybody says (which just does not work) and that i should visit this forum for additional assistance.... well where is this assistance?!

I think this game requires a high end graphics card with at least 2048 Mb dedicated video RAM

I got a decent graphics card, as stated previously. A HD7970 with 3 gig of ram should be sufficient. My system is on par with the recomended specs for Fallout 4 so it should not be a problem.

All recent games play perfectly, GTA5 the Witcher 3 and i play alot of early access titles on steam and guess what.... they ALL at least start up but a game costing twice as much as most early access titles doesn't even start.

Getting the same "nothing happens after hitting play" issue. Drivers up to date, tried windowed, etc.

Admittedly, I don't have a great rig. I am however able to play ARK on medium gfx and have no issues with any other game I play.

Try disabling SLI

The game probably wont' run on CPU based graphics.

For anyone else who has CPU based graphics, try forcing the system to use the 3D card (either in Power Options or in the control panel for your card)

Was having the same problem, tried everything listed above except rolling back drivers. Running Windows 10--tried running in compatibility mode for Windows 8 and at the very least it's gotten me as far as the start menu so that's progress.

Maybe helpful... I re-validated the game cache in steam and it launched. Apparently some files did not download correctly. Huzzah!

Have tried all of this, and emailed them, and nothing playing on a GTX 970 in windowed low settings and as i hit the play button i get "fallout 4 has stopped working blah blah", i guess i should of expected this

I do not have SLI Enabled, plus I am AMD so it would be crossfire. Which I do not have enabled.

I have a 2 monitor setup and I have even tried using only one, and still nothing.

I have tried everything possible so far and still no change.

I've tried all the recipies posted here. Still, the game crashes no matter what ... I tried launching the game via Steam and without Steam. I got 0 seconds of gameplay out of Fallout 4 (( Does anybody have any more possible solutions? Can you guys at Bethesda just fix it?

I just uninstalled every driver I could and reinstalled with the newest of every driver I could find.

Still hasn't changed a thing.

I have the same graphic card. I updated to latest drivers, set V-Sync to "ON-unless app specifies", tried different graphical settings in launcher and now it works.

and OFC prior to updating graphic drivers I used a graphic driver cleanup tool that supposedly safely erases all graphic driver data (its and AMD tool).
