Dude, it's was 200 years ago. One of the issues with Fallout 3 WAS that it looked like it happened 20 minutes ago.

Check my sig vv

Fallout doesnt look too apocalyptic since Fallout 2, most of the towns at this time began to reconstruct, then Fallout 3........

The problem is that every Fallout game happened only "minutes ago" then their people just dont want to start a new life, reconstructing among the ruins, at this moment of the storyline, California is a apocaliptic Heaven compared to the rest of the Wasteland

I dont think your sig is appropriate (Curse words and etc) But I did get a chuckle out of it. I loved Fallout 3, but it was still funny.

@OP- Fallout was never about Doom and Gloom, it was always about, to quote the Wasteland Survival Guide 'Survive, Thrive, and Revive'. Fallout 3 is very visually beautiful (and I was introduced to the series because of 3), but Fallout as a series shows its about the struggles of the various clans, tribes, and factions to simply survive and build some sort of safety. Fallout 3, though it makes the point of 'D.C. was hit hard by the bombs' I think it relies to heavily on this excuse. I love Fallout New Vegas because it shows a new world with monoliths of the old world being seen as these 'ancient wonders' HELIOS one, Hoover Dam, Lucky 38, Black Mountain, the thing involved with Nellis (Not giving out spoilers) and a few other things. Point is, I think despite it lacking some of the scenery narratives F3 provided that I loved, F:NV still manages to impress me narratively.

I want a Fallout that happens on the DAY it happened.

Mission objective pops up on your screen: Go make some coffee.
Optional: Grab some toast too.
Make some coffee complete.

The bombs drop.

Thanks for playing!

I'd buy that.
Cup of coffee, a toast and some fireworks.
What's not to like? :)

You also need to think about the fact that not only the "time frame New Vegas is in", but that "every location" in the Fallout world will be "effected differently". Washington DC is the main target location for the U.S. government, so a course a nuclear attack might be dead on and therefore Washington DC would be completely burn to crisp! And 200 years later would still show the effects, I mean look at the roman empire for example...the ruins are still there today and worst as time increases in fact.

Where in New Vegas it seems to be more guarded by mountain terrains so it could be New Vegas was protected by that for this reason. Really it all depends on where the nuke impacted, but the Fallout story "doesn't" go that deep so the rest is left to the community to theorize. Time also has a effect, as time increase things are rebuilt but honestly on my option I still believe Fallout: New Vegas is very post-apocalyptic. The world still seems like it was hit in a nuclear war but just not as bad as other locations in the Fallout world.

I'd love to see something to that effect. A radio playing a scripted 'Good Morning (City), it's another beautiful day in America, things are increasing in China as our boys are on the way further up the road to Beijing' in your bedroom, and then you go to the mirror (Which is your character creation screen in the beginning/for the game (This is your home/one of them for the beginning) then as you go put on a suit (Grimy Pre-War Businesswear for males and Pre-War Casualwear for females) for work, then as you go down stairs and turn on the radio, when your toast is done the radio says 'THIS JUST IN -static- HAS JUST STARTED NUCLEAR ARMEGGEDON!' then after this, the air raid sirens sound, as you head for yoour Vault, but it's to late, the bombs drop. Then the story shows how one used to civil and common ettiquette deals with rioters, gangs, violence, and ensuring the safety of yourself, and others if you want to be the selfless hero.

Thats just a roughdraft idea, sorry if it sounds lame :sadvaultboy:

No a great idea! Not lame, and your not the first one to think that up for a game but it seems more of a dream then something Bethesda is willing to do.
