Just bought Crysis 3 and I'm not sure what FPS I should expect for my rig. I feel like I'm not getting what I should be, but maybe the game is just more powerful than their system requirements show.

Specs:

gtx 580 1.5gb vram
8 gb ram
i7 2600k 3.4 ghz
1920x1080 32 inch TV connected via HDMI

I have to run Crysis 1 in dx9 mode and Crysis 2 in dx10 mode because both games have the 24hz refresh rate bug if i play in C1 dx10 or C2 dx11.

I'm getting 15 fps on very high
20 on high
30 on medium
and 50-60 on low

I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be. The system requirements say I should be capable of running the game well.

Those look low, on the Open Beta, I got to 50-60 on All set to Very High on my 5870. For me, setting Water to low caused some kind of problem and my FPS dipped like crazy, but Very high didn't.

The only two games I own that give me an issue are Crysis 1 and 2, but I've heard both don't like HDMI cables and run a lot better with dvi. I wonder if its another case of that or what. I know my PC wont run Very high at 60 frames but I was at least hoping for 45 on High.

I have a similar problem with my FPS. While using High settings, the game runs at like 150 FPS but if feels like they were 40 as its very choppy. Then I switched to Medium settings and still the same, every FPS counter marks 100+ FPS but it feels very lag.

Downloading Nvidia drivers 314.07, see if it makes a difference.

That is called micro-stutter, usually happens with AMD and Crossfire(2 cards), but I personally experienced this with a single GPU configuration. My GPU utilization was not stable at all.

Try going into the Nvidia Control Panel, click on "Manage 3D Settings" then tab over to Programs, and add the Crysis 3 .exe to the list. Find the Power Management option and put it to "Prefer Max Performance". Might not work, but helped some people who had the same problem on Battlefield 3.

Now the game is running perfect, no kidding, perfect!

ok, I did this just in case, I also turned down Shading to medium and I can now play on Very High with 30 fps. Going to turn anisotropic filter back up and see if that hurts the fps.
