Do NOT Start a New Game!

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:17 pm

If you are already playing a game and don't want any save deleted, DO NOT START A NEW GAME! I wanted to try something for Gits and Shiggles, so I started a new game, and when I wanted to go load an old game, I was SHOCKED that they were all gone.

Did Bethesda fail to tell us when playing a character we can't have multiple characters and when starting a new one, it will erase your old one?

Just in case that is not the case, how can I load my old character? If you can't please take this as a warning, and don't start a new character until your don't want to play your old character anymore.

Just wish I knew about this before I tried something new.

Weird I have the option to switch characters in the load menu, Never had any problems with it. I even tested out quicksaving between characters, and it worked fine.

You can have multiple characters. On the load screen you press T to select character, or whatever it is on a controller.

Hard Saves and Quicksaves are stored by Character Name.

Name Your new Character differently than any prior characters, and use nonsense names for Guinea Pigs.

what are you playing on? On PS4 you can start a new game with the same PSN account and it separates the save files between the two (or more) names that you give your character

As others have said, there's a "Switch Character" option on the load screen, which will toggle the save files.

If you named your character the same, as I did, it does get confusing to know which file to load, but they're safe and sound.

I am on the Xbox One. Will check to see where the options are for character names. Thanks all for helping.

*edit* OK I feel silly now. LOL I have never seen this option before, but now I see it. It's the Y button for me on the Xbox One. Thank you all.

I save different characters in separate folders because... I'm lame.
