I'm not very computer savy....

Sup guys. So I downloaded dosbox and daggerfall. I really want to get this game up and running because I'm an avid TES fan. I've played the Daggerfall demo an long time ago and it was a lot of fun, so I really want to figure this darn thing out. Bethesda's directions say to go the start menu to edit the configuration. I don't even know what that means. And Freddo's instructions state to write

MOUNT C GAMES -freesize 700
MOUNT D X:\ -t cdrom (X being the letter of your optical drive where the Daggerfall CD is)
D:
INSTALL

in dosbox but then it just says "Directory GAMES doesn't exist." Maybe I'm just dumb but I can't figure out what the hell I'm supposed to do :brokencomputer: I would really appreciate it if any of yall could lend me a helping hand so I can get my Bretond Nightblade into action :)

These directions work out the best.

First step just click start or windows icon. Click all programs then scroll down and click on the dosbox folder and you'll see the configuration folder.

Alright, after a couple of hours of work and help from a friend, I finally got the game to run! I'm currently a level 3 Dunmer assassin. Now, I had a few questions about the game. For one, how do I get into full screen mode? I've been playing in a window and it's getting to be a nuisance. Two, how do I get my current quests to pop up? I did it once before accidentally, but I can't figure out how to pull it up to see what I'm supposed to do. Also, how do I get more info on my current quests? Am I supposed to just ask NPCs for more info or what? I've got a quest from an inn keeper to track down some ranger and bring him back dead or alive, but I don't know where I'm supposed to go to find out where he is. My final question is this. Is it possible to complete the game as a vampire, or is it like Morrowind where nobody will talk to you and it's more of a burden than a benefit?

1.) I think you can get into full screen mode and out of it by pressing Ctrl and Enter at the same time. I'm not exactly sure about this though.

2.) Your current quests can be found in the character stats screen and you can get there by clicking on your character's face on the HUD. There is a button that says log and that is where the information is on your current quests. Also, when in conversation with NPCs there's an option to record what they say into your logbook.

3.) Try talking to people in town about the subject and usually they'll have something to say but you might have to try multiple people to get a concrete answer. When you know the location of of the quest target in town you can ask for directions. Again, you may have to try multiple people based on if the person likes you or not or simply he or she has no idea what you're talking about. A useful hint is that when you ask someone for directions you can keep asking him or her until he or she just marks it on your map so you don't have to ask others. However, it is very important that you should remember everything NPCs say and the last thing you did because your logbook does not always update.

4.) I would look at this page http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Vampirism. It has a basic rundown of vampirism in Daggerfall and you can decide whether the pros outweigh the cons.

Hope I helped

Full screen should be Alt-Enter.

Another question about vampirism. I read the UESP article, but it still didn't answer my question. Can you still talk to NPCs as a vampire? And can you complete the main quest as one? Those are my main concerns.

EDIT: I'd just like to say that this game is very fun. It's so cool how different each character you makes is, and how you answer the questions in the beginning affect your history. It's so cool how different the live's of a mage differ from an assassin and differ from a warrior.

You can both talk to NPCs and complete the main quest as a vampire. Hardly any NPCs will know your character is a vampire. It basically has no effect on interaction with most NPCs. Much better than MW ;)
