A note to Bethesda

I ' ve only been on for a short time you can see by the date i joined. But i just have to say i dont know how or what you and the moderators do differnt then all other forums. But just cant believe how much different of feel your forums have.
Im still in a daze from them it is actually enjoyable to use them . Even other members seem better here , they are very helpful and any questions you post in a thread get answered very quickly. I Dont think i have even seen any trolls, or flammers at all. Like i said im still in a daze and keep thinking ill wake up and your forums will be like all the others.

So i just have to take my hat off to you all and say thanks for the awsome forum experiance you provide. It is a nice change from most others. My last one was "[bleeeps] new social site" , and OMG its horrible there . I still would like to know how you manage this increadable feat . So if you dont mind explain please how you do it . Im in the process of making a gaming site that will have a forum and would like it to have the same feel as yours does. And last just want to say this is a HUGE compliment comming from me, there are very few thing that impress me . And never thought a forum would be one thing that would . :foodndrink: :icecream: :clap: :tops:

The admin and moderators here try not to let the rules or enforcement get lax. This isn't to say that we don't strive to be fair and flexible, and we certainly don't warn for any infraction, but we tend to be quick to step in when we see a problem. While this general philosophy can work for forums of any size I'd argue that smaller forums need to keep their rules very short and very simple. I also think they need to maintain a more casual atmosphere, although this doesn't mean "anything goes." When you have a small group it's easier to deal with situations on a case-by-base basis, and since everyone tends to be familiar with everyone else it seems that real rules infractions are less common. On these forums we don't have these luxuries, although we do try to keep things personable and flexible. I'm sure there are some people who'd argue that our rules and enforcement here are stifling and some may have good criticisms and suggestions - but overall the community seems to be happy.

While I believe the management here helps set the stage for a productive and civil community it is the community itself that makes these forums so nice. We attract a lot of very helpful, knowledgeable, creative, and friendly people and these make this place awesome. :)

As an aside, it's best not to complain about other forums here, at least not by name.

What will the site be called and will it be about a game or games in general?

The mods rule these boards with an iron fist , i think that is the main reason.

In my opinion they also display wisdom in their decisions.

Secret to BGSF's "well behaved" forum: Threads get locked fast, people get warned for breaking rules.

i think it has to do with the specific backgrounds they setup, its definitely brainwashing

Probably, which is why I don't use the backgrounds, rockin' it out with a custom CSS

I think this forum has a great community because we have great moderators, but don't be fooled by some moderators Rough may seem like a cuddly bear but behind that cuddly bear is pit of souls to witch there is no return! :obliviongate:

Well you could have great rules but little enforcement in which case you have chaos, so its more than the rules. :P

Yes the mods are very strict about the rules and sure sometimes in a blue moon they will mess up but they are good in the most part even though they traffic souls from other forumers.... :bolt: and I am gone :P

On the bright side, I hear that Yasgur introduced a new method of chocolate production, leading to a higher chocolate ration for all

In my opinion, I think it's just that the forums run so freaking slow that trolls/spammers/flamers can't be bothered scrolling around to spam a page 'cause it takes like five hours to do so. And installing a custom CSS would be too much work.

So the slowness of the forums works in a good way; only the dedicated remain.

But the quality of the cigarettes rations are getting worse they fall apart when I light them.
Oh my I remembered a line from 1984 that's a first :P ....hated that book

Still I am surprised that no one goes after us , sure we have the one minute wait period but a group of 20 plus trolls can run havok for a while and I don't think we could ban IP addresses .....I am not sure how powerful the mods are in the first place.
Thankfully nobody has used spam bots on us yet , I'd hate to see the follow thing in quotes spammed everywhere.

the? surgeon has only recently postponed his current operation to wish you a fantastic christmas and hopes you stay healthy

He wishes you a Merry Christmas;
He wishes you a Merry Christmas;
He wishes you a Merry Christmas and a happy new stitch;
Good tidings he brings to you and your lungs;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Scar.

Fantastic, the? surgeon is delighted

There are no rules telling people to be helpful. Such rules were considered but they fared poorly during the testing phase.

As someone who has gone years with no flood control here, and then occasionally logged in to my alt account (Hungry_Donner) to post, I can assure you that some cookies have been removed ;)

Mods can IP ban and we get spam bots. Most are just caught right away as there are special restrictions put on your first couple of posts to catch them faster. I've seen a few get through though

Well if all things go as planned it will be a huge site , as in number of members and i would think that the forum will be more on the huge size as well. But that would be over time . It will take some time to get it to the huge stage i would think. But i project not a really long time . And i really dont want to have to change the forum system to much as it grows if i can help it . And its not really aimed at any single game or game system really. More like all of them together.

Forgive me for being kind of vauge about the site but i just dont want others that might read this try and copy the idea because it will only hurt the ultimate goal. If that happend it would be counter productive to the whole thing . And if i may ask what programs do you use for your forums. I ask because i like the layout and the system is very easy to use from the start, from a new users stand point. As much info you are wilingl to give about the forum would be great . Like as in How many moderaters you usually have and things like that . Im not asking for any privilaged info of any kind . I want the same feel as you have here so any help would be helpful in regards to the forums system. And the name i have not yet purchased it, so i cant really say that either, lol .It is available though . But its a well know word/name because thats the best thing to do for a name of a site. The better known the name is the faster it will grow.
