Anyone else do this or am I the only weirdo?
My character is a nomad; notes and letters end up in a waste bin of he gives them to a vendor. Same thing for the books, journals, keys etc.
I keep my first sword and all notes as everyone of em is a mark on my characters journey in skyrim.
I had an obnoxiously humongous key collection in Oblivion. It's nice be pedantic when it comes to collecting things, filling up your house with useless rubbish is actually really fun!
I do like keeping the journals as well. Nothing like reading a dead persons journal while relaxing by the fire in my mansion.
Since letters/notes doesn't weigh anything I usually just keep them in my pockets. Usually they are just collecting dust in a bookshelf with my books and journals.
Or if I don't like someone I throw the letters on their bed.
Daeo....has a collection of house keys from the people he killed. He never robs them, he just takes a key, or jewelry or some sort of token to remember them. If they are just diamon necklace [I enchant them right away to put the victims name on the Necklace].
He also collects other peoples journals he finds along the way. Just because he is an assassin and likes to kill, doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy the finer life of adventuring, exploring, and reading. He is after all still a Breton.
Yeah, I usually keep every note I come across, unless I know it's a repeat/copy of one I already have, then I don't pick it up.
I don't always read every letter, though. Only ones that initially catch my interest. Glover Mallory's letter to his daughter, for example. Read that one just a whlie ago. Good read...
Glover Mallory writes a note to his daughter? How can I find this?
My sentiments exactly! I can indulge my real-life packrat tendencies without actually collecting myself out of house and home!
Anything hand written, be it letter or journal, I keep. Don't know why, but they just seem more personal to my characters and they don't let them go.
I've done the exact same thing. I have one dresser for notes and letter and another for books. But I don't just limited to that. I have all the keys I have picked, found or been given. I also have a set of every type of armer I find. Different weapons I find. I have my house filled with junk and I love going back at times and seeing all I've got and all I've accomplished
Well, my current character is the daughter of My main and Ysolda, so when I picked up the Note from Ysolda in one of the ginat camps, I keep in in my inventory
It depends. I love remembering a quest I did a while back so on my characters with houses I keep them in a library. But on my other characters that are more nomad, traveler type I just drop them wherever. or give them to the Khajiits to get rid of.
^^This. A collection of personal items that once belonged to someone else. Especially when I go into a dungeon and find a journal, it makes me want to find out about why the person wrote it in the first place. Some notes lead you to a quest or give a place to go and do a quest.
Books are very interesting and I love to read even in real life, so I keep all books that gave me a level increase in something, and then all the books that sound interesting and put them in my library in my house by the Marsh.
