Nothing to do in fallout anymore. 14 of skyrim

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:08 am

After you finish the main guest and craft and build stuff there is almost nothing more to do. I have done some sidequests but i cant find more, if it does. I dont know what to do. Is there more content that is just hard to find? There is no big towns and funny side quests left. Is it just me?

I haven't got that far, but it wouldn't surprise me that more content will be for sale later as the industry standard, but still a rip-off, DLCs. If you play on a PC, you also have user Mods to look forward to, though I've heard that there may be some for console as well, though I don't have a clue how that will work.

Seeing how other people have over 80 hours of play name if not more than 100, it must be you since the Main Quest is what 20 hours or so. With you brief statement, it seems you have don't much.

You only did "some" side quests. To get a lot of side quests you need to explore. I take it you just did the main quest and didn't branch out and do your own thing and do other quests.

Is this your first Fallout game? Is this your first Bethesda game?

Really? I'm 70 hours in, haven't finished the main quest, still have a Pipboy full of side and miscellaneous quests, and there are huge chunks of the map I haven't even been to, and it isn't like I've been twiddling my thumbs. The map is actually way larger than people give it credit for - for instance, there are several times you can go OUTSIDE the square around the map, and there are still locations there. And several out of the way locations or building open up into entire "dungeons" when you find a secret hatch, or door.

Fallout has never had as much content, quest wise at least, as elder scrolls, mostly because the factions in fallout tend to be tied to the main quest and thus there generally are no major questlines you can do besides that.

For example, Skyrim had Thieves guild, Dark Brotherhood, Mages College, and Companions, plus the civil war. guilds had nothing to do with main quest, but had quite a bit of content and longish dungeons and Civil war was only partially related to main quest. Compare to basically every fallout game, which has what for major questlines? um....I Guess you could do each faction up until the stopping point where they all interweave into the main quest....but that is it. No other major questline.

this holds true to every fallout/elder scrolls game as well.

space wise, and dialogue wise, it is FAR bigger then skyrim,

You need to explore and talk with people at the different areas i am at 100+ hours and lvl 73 with my toon but i will admit i have had way to many this settlement needs assistance and now that i have 1 of the factions from later on in the story mode i get quests from them as well, after completing the main story line, but i always had stuff to do and you can work all 4 factions and some areas if you do certain things like kill all the guards you get access to more quests because someone is mad you killed his guys guarding a certain area.

So it is your own fault for not looking hard enough or exploring enough around the wasteland, a lot of us have no issues finding things to do and explore.

There is a lot to do, and a lot of quests. You just have to go exploring.

How long have you played for? I've put in 84 hours and it seems like theres still quite a bit to do. I'm also coming to the close of the Main quest but I know off the top of my head there are areas that I haven't really explored and I want to build out a few settlements for different purposes.

I guess if you're not into that kind of stuff, you'll probably be looking for another game soon. If I do hit a brick wall, I'll probably make a new character and play the completely opposite of what i'm playing now. I think that's one major advantage of having a voiced protagonist -- the performance is going to be completely different.

Wow that is a lot of hours. Just like in Skyrim you need to explore. You don't even need to play the main quest.

Now I just realized I made a big mistake. I only got a few hours in Fallout 4. I haven't really done the main quest yet, still trying to get to Diamond City but I am more exploring and being distracted more than anything. You could be correct in that there is nothing to do.

So for that I apologize and giving advice, I am assuming there is a lot to do since I have been playing for what 10 hours and not even getting to Diamond City yet and have been playing other Bethesda games I am assuming I can do 100's of hours without even touching the main quest.

In Skyrim and new vegas if you met someone on the street they often had a side quest but not in f4 :C

Umm... I don't know about you guys, but Boston and pretty much every other major town (of which there's like 4) are jam packed to the brim with locations and missions and quests. Boston is so freaking dense it's not even funny, and settlements and ambient quests do provide some sort of longevity. I think you must not have explored enough, I'm only level 26 and have explored slightly more than half the map and I can already clearly see enough missions to carry me to at least level 50, and then of course there's the part of the map I haven't seen at all.

Also, you know that dotted line on the west and southern parts of the map are lies, right? The map doesn't actually end until you reach the "hard end" of the map, or the place where your map physically can't go any further.

EDIT: I also just read that you put 1800 hours into Skyrim. I don't care how big that map is or how many missions you think there were, that game in my eyes had nowhere near enough content for nearly 2000 hours of play, 1000 hours was still kind of pushing it. Heck, at that point I think you mainly just played because of personal preference to the setting and story and didn't mind doing the same stuff over and over again, in which case it would be very unfair to judge Fallout by the same standards.

What are you talking about? I've received quite a few sidequests from random people around the Commonwealth.

You're not looking hard enough then. I've spent over 100 hours, level 26 and all I've done is cleared zone 1, zone 3 and zone 8. (85 locations discovered) I have only done 1 main quest. Just now got to zone 9 and am making my way towards diamond city. If you're really having trouble finding stuff then I suggest you grab the game guide and use the maps. . There are over 200 major areas (areas that actually show up on your map) and probably twice as many minor areas. .. there's a lot of stuff out there.

Umm, well most people consider getting distracted and exploring, you know, the main part of the game that gives them joy. You don't have to constantly be in a quest all the time constantly to feel any sort of fun, exploring is half the game. Also, trust me, the guy is overreacting, I kind of would too if I spent 1800 hours on a Bethesda game and instantly started with 0 on the next. At the bare minimum he would have to play like 75 days straight to reach that goal. But in the meantime, it just seems to him like a smaller game.

TL;DR: Just don't worry, there is plenty of content in the game for you.

I've found that there are a lot of quests but they're meaningless and the outcomes railroaded. Witcher 3 really spoiled me in this respect. In that game the world is organically alive and even small throwaway missions have good story.

BLAH.

Witcher 3? That world felt so empty to me. Sure the cities were bigger and more dynamic, and there were some nice towns and cottages, but outside of those I wouldn't see a single soul just randomly traveling. Mainly because they make it clear that the outside world is bad and civies have no place outside alone. Whereas in Fallout, I can't step two feet without having a random encounter, firefight, quest, or other derpy little thing. Also, Witcher's quests weren't that much better than Fallout. Honestly the only thing it has over Fallout in my opinion is a better story, and better dialogue. Also a bigger world, but it so much more empty that I can't really find that as a benefit. I'd be really surprised if it beat out Fallout for game of the year.

I spent 70 hours on my first play though.

I'm on my second and so far it is completely different and I am running into encounters and quests I never even knew about. Side quests can branch off of anywhere and anyone for multiple different reasons. That is the great thing about this game. The beauty of this game is finding that stuff and the discovery of it. If you can't be bothered to go out looking for it or start a second play through to do things differently then you are playing the wrong game.

Yes, that's good world design. You shouldn't see random NPCs in monster-infested wilderness unless they're in trouble or dead- which Witcher does have. In the settled areas, there is life and it feels real. Meanwhile I keep wandering around Diamond City thinking "is this it?"

Ehh thats too simple. I like F4 approach on side-quests. Actions you make earlier effects the side quests you get later on. Most all NPCs you can converse with have sidequests and branching quests from those quests.
