The November issue of Game Informer, which should start hitting subscribers in a week, will have a Skyrim feature. Andrew Reiner of GI said that "Elder Scrolls fans are going to love our next issue."

It won't be the review though because Pete said the other day that they've embargoed all of their game reviews meaning the media can't publish them becore launch day. Someone asked him about the RAGE reviews and that's what he said. He said it got "too confusing" with reviews popping up at different dates. So no Skyrim review before 11.11.11, which means they'll start showing up in January issues of magazines. January issues will start hitting at the end of November since they're a month ahead.

Let the speculation continue...

Should start hitting subscribers around the 10th. It's the November issue, but magazines are a month ahead.

Strange for a review to be after the release. Usually they're a few weeks beforehand.

I gave the reason in the OP. Online outlets will have the reviews on 11.11.11, or after depending on how early they get review copies. Since the December issue of magazines will start hitting in early November, they can't have their reviews in that issue. They'll have to wait for their January issues. Bethesda has a review embargo on all of their games now starting with RAGE. That's why the current October issues of magazines don't have RAGE reviews. Pete said it got "too confusing" with reviews showing up all over the place at different times.

I'm confused with all this one month ahead stuff. So if I go to the shops on the 10th of october will they have this issue for sale?

I'm not really sure what else they have left to reveal. As much as I want more information, it's mostly just out of anticipation for the actual game. I probably already know more than I should.

Wouldn't reviews be a few days/weeks before actual release?

No, that is when subscribers will receive it through the post.

If what Pete says is true, I fundamentally disagree with this approach, and think it's a little poor from a snr marketing executive. Gamers should be able to get a review shortly before a game is out to give them information on whether it is worth buying.

Clearly on Skyrim, none of us have concerns over the quality given previous history of how good Bethesda is, but my general point remains unchanged.

What kind of reason is that supposed to be? Embargoing reviews till the day of release is just.. wrong. Usually for games and movies this means the publisher/studio has little faith in the thing they′re putting out
and they want to at least trick a few early adopters into buying it before the reviews hit. Well, I don′t care since it is an Elder Scrolls game we′re talking about here, but still..

Bethesda as a publisher had a few real stinkers out that recieved bad reviews so they are just afraid of the 7/10′s that Rage is going to get (y′know, EVERY game has to get 10/10 scores these days, right?)
Yeah, way to go Bethesda.. way to show some faith in your games.

I don't get this embargoing of reviews, it does not look good...but I'd never pre-order anything either.

true does sound like they are trying to hide something bad but mayb it's so the game doesn't get spoiled for us by telling us something best discovered ?

It makes sense when you think about the PR/Media control thus far. Remember, we've been restricted to one area, and Bethesda has learned from their mistakes with Oblivon's PR. They're keeping a very slow, controlled leak of information. A review likely has a slew of details that they don't want to spoil, and thus it would be logical to them to force reviews after the release date.

You people do know that nearly every single publisher does this, right? Nearly every publisher I've seen has placed embargos on reviews up until a week or so before the launch of the game, generally. EA does it with every single one of their games, for one example.

To the question on hand, well, generally I hate speculating. But they say that TES fans will love it. I ask myself, what are the big questions TES fans have been asking? Well first of all, screenshots/footage of the PS3 and PC versions. A magazine can take care of one of those, screenshots. Second, every single day I come on here, I see a new werewolf thread. So they could use this opportunity to finally give a firm yes or no answer to that. My guess, a reveal.

Perhaps to go with the reveal of the voice actors of the main quest earlier this week, they could talk a little more about the main quest.

Those are my guesses. Again, I hate speculating, so. . . see it as a miracle I posted this at all.

And many don't care about those that don't. Let to go play with their litttle dragons. I will go kill some stupid humans as a vampire and hopefully, a werewolf too.
