It will be the end of an era, as a new one begins...FOR VIDEO GAMES!!!!!! I think this game really seems ahead of its time (a very good thing). I have that gut feeling that this game will change everything for video games, and I mean most video games, not just RPGs. As far as graphics, realism, combat etc. I am dying to play this game, as are about the 100% rest of you guys, and the very second you move your character will be so epic and send shivers down your spine. Anyway this thread is for everyone to say how excited you are about this game and how you'll feel and what you'll think the first few seconds of gameplay.

Also about the topic title, who will be outside GameStop stores at this time anxiously waiting to run in and get this epic? I know I will be. That is if GameStop will have a midnight opening for this game. I wouldn't doubt it.

Ehh... it's not really ahead of its time at all... It's more like 'finally goddam caught up with it's time.' NV and Fo3 were WAY behind their time in graphics and game engine. Skyrim is just finally up to par with the best. Now don't get me wrong, it's up top with the best games (engine wise, etc) but I wouldn't go so far as to say 'ahead of it's time'.

Then in 10 years from the release you will ask a dragon to calculate how much exactly you have to pay for your bills.

I can hold out for a few days if stores run out of copies

since Dynasty Warriors 7 might hold me over for alot of months when it comes out in march

Whoa there buddy. I don't think it'll be that revolutionary to gaming. I'm keeping my expectations pretty low. Yeah, it'll be a damn masterpiece just like all of the ES games, but I don't want to set my standards for it so high.

I highly doubt I'll be outside GameStop for a midnight release, especially since I'd like to get a full nights sleep before I start playing it.

I'm sure once I start it up I'll squeal like a huge nerdy fangirl in one of my rare displays of genuine excitement.

Or I just have the dragon eat the bills and nobody knows they even existed. Problem solved. :P

Wait in line until midnight? Are you joking? I will be pre-ordering it from GAME and getting it a day or two early like I do with every other game I order from there. :toughninja:

I will be nice and toasty, inside, patiently sitting at my computer, waiting for the final patch to finish working its magic so my Steam copy of Skyrim will be unlocked and I can begin playing immediately at 12:01 PST...

...meanwhile I imagine there will still be people waiting in line in the freezing cold at gamestop for the boxed versions.

Wow you must feel soooooooo cool for saying that. It almost makes it look
like you speak for everyone that plays the game.

It's not a piece of crap in my eyes, it's fun playing it with firends either online
or offline. I actually got it for the bot matches we so loved from Perfect Dark.
If you don't go online with screaming ten year olds it's actually ok. I like my
singleplayers, but I also like co-op and see nothing wrong with it. Working
together on a team and having fun - that's a good time.

Campaign was... meh, though.

I bought MW2. Shame on me. :sadvaultboy:

Lesson enough not to buy Black Ops,but when I saw a video where a guy kills like half of the enemy team with a tomahawk thrown half way across the map I just turned it off and went back to playing Battlefield. Now I'm not saying that BF is better (in my eyes it is,way better) than BO,but I tend to play FPS MP games where tactics and teamwork matter. Throwing an axe and killing a few people isn't even skill,it's just plain stupid.

So there, you stated your opinion,I stated mine. I refuse discuss it further on this forum due to obvious reasons. (It is a Bethesda forum about Bethesdas games)

Peace :icecream:

EDIT: If you really badly want to discuss it further,do send a PM.

1. This game is NOT going to start a "new era" from a graphics standpoint. The graphics aren't bad, but are far from amazing or jaw droping.

2. This game is NOT going to start a "new era" from a realism standpoint. There are dragons, magic, dragon shouts, and elves... so how the hell is Skyrim going to be amazingly realistic? Its physics might be good, but so were Half Life 2's..... 7 years ago.

3. The combat sounds only slightly different then Oblivion, and no one really knows exactly how good its going to be. However, its not going to start any "new era" thats for sure since at the end of the day its probably going to be a hack and slash with a few more bells and whistles.

4. Sure it will be great to play Skyrim, but its almost certainly going to be very similar to Oblivion... so its not going to feel very epic, just a bit different.

I'm not saying I'm not excited for Skyrim, but I don't have horribly unrealistic expectations for it. You know why so many people complain when games come out? Because people such as yourself build games up soooo much in youro wn head, that the game has no chance what so ever to meet your expectations. Skyrim is going to be a better Oblivion, with some nifty new features... and thats it. If you expect more that that your going to be disappointed.

And no, I won't be going to a midnight launch since I will almost certainly buy the game on Steam.

Thank god where I live showing up a mere hour early would still put me at, or at least extremely close to, the front of the line.

As other people have said, Skyrim isnt 'ahead of its time' its just at the PEAK of its time. Meaning with the current tech it cant get much better. Also, you cant rele say that the realism and combat ofthis game make it more advanced, because we havnt even seen ANY combat or played the game to get any realism from it. The only thing we have to go by this game is the graphics from the screenshots shown so far...
