A topic that I hope will be free of the war that is happening in this forum.
This topic came to my mind when I just noticed that in the gameplay trailor, they use a 'terror' spell to make their enemies run away.
But they are using it on undead, how does that work?(am no master of TES lore, so if it is lore that undead think and act like normal beings, speak so)
I mean.. they should not be affected by such things, just like undead should be immune to poisens.

There's been a Turn Undead spell around in both Oblivion and Morrowind. So that's nothing all too new.

There's a Turn Undead spell in Oblivion, it does the same as that.

It inspires the behaviours of terror witin them, similar to the fact they exibit behaviours of "Guarding", or "Defending"

I like Jagar's explanation; I always felt that (in the case of the Turn Undead spells) you were simply emitting an energy that was harmless to living creatures, but essentially ran counter to whatever dark magic sustained undead. Therefore, it wasn't truly fear by which they were running; it was simply self-preservation.

That's how I rationalised it anyway.

But is 'turn undead' not specific magic only used on undeads? I mean I always felt like that was an thing in its own, a spell made specificly for undeads and as such it worked differently(you cant turn living afterall).(and I imagen it to be more like mind controll or forcing of physical body, while terror is more like mind alteration, but you can hardly alter thoughts or mind of a thing that has non)
but I can not imagening frenzing or terrorfying an undead, it just does not make much sens to me.(becuase they would simply not care)

If you can use magic as a ward, why not? It probably smells nicer than garlic and is less messy than salt anyway.
