So..we now know what Alduin will look like? Your thoughts?

Boring, generic dragon. Hopefully the model is representative of how we see him in statues during the game, as opposed to what we actually end up dealing with.

Deathwing. Now THERE'S an impressive dragon.

And I expected Alduin to be... Bulkier? More thick and muscular... Anyone else?

Seeing as they probably had to keep the size to a minimum because of cost, i'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this. Do you want a 2-3 foot statue and then a CE more than even $150?

Muscle mass isn't really a good indicator of strength when it comes to gods.

He looks really intimidating! I did have this preconception that he would be golden, but I'm not sure where I even got that from.

Akatosh is often depicted as golden right? So Alduin would be the opposite if they are dual aspects of the same divine personality.

That makes sense. I'm not at all disappointed that he isn't golden - I'm quite happy with his appearance - I just had that thought in the back of my mind. I guess I forgot Akatosh is depicted as such.

Looking closer at the Alduin paperweight... I can see the spikes adorning either side of the head and from the cranium to the neck would give Alduin a look that would be visually archaic and noble. His eyes being red are menacing, his lip structure and jaw structure indicates malevolence in that its very angular and very threatening. The muzzle being so narrowed would make the front on view appear noble due to those spike crests I mentioned. The spikes along the spine are some what regal in comparison to generic dragons in Skyrim which appear noble but dangerous when their mouths are closed.

If anything the wings should have been grander.

He does have a split personality, three different personae. And he's described as insane in several places.

So, if we are to take this as fact, which I do, we now know what Alduin, the World Eater, will look like in the game.
What are your thoughts? Opinions?

Hmm, hard to say. Should I marinate my Alduin steaks in a garlic mixture or a sweet lavender sauce? Of course, I'll send the hide straight to the taxidermist.

His wings should definitely be grander, large enough to be sort of like a cloak while he is at rest I think.

Anyways, I totally realized they kept him looking more or less like the http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-17/art/es5s-logo.jpg.

I had expected that he would look like a bigger, more intimidating version of dragons, and he isn't too far from what I'd expected. And he looks pretty fine to me, I wouldn't have minded something a little more different from standard dragons, but for what he is, I don't see much to complain about in the design.

It would be interesting to see what Dragon Shouts Alduin will use, I believe his abilities may be unique to him specifically until he is defeated and his Soul absorbed (is that even possible with a god's avataar?).

He looks like something you'd find on a Yu-Gi-Oh card.

dont know if this was a joke, but it irritated me all the same.

they've already confirmed the common dragons are going to be very difficult, and you'll need to pull at every resource available to you in order to win... and with the recent info from... grimdeath, i think? the dragon battles took quite awhile, despite todd's god-moded character.

so how difficult do you think alduin, the god among dragons, the world eater... would be?

im assuming we wont even be allowed to fight him, we'll probably have to defeat him some other way, and his body will probably burn, so no hide for you!

im going to assume alduin will have a more grand appearance in-game, i dont see why they'd make him look so plain.

he'll most likely have particle effects, probably flames surrounding him, we might fight him during a unique-looking storm, or some special atmosphere... im sure they'd want the battle to be very memorable.

you know, the exact opposite of the mannimarco battle from oblivion.

Hm ... looks boring, no matter how big, actually. Had hoped for something stranger or weirder.

If it has to be a dragon, why not at least one that'll make us think wth? I look at this statuette and feel like I've seen it in a dozen games before.

On the other hand, after seeing how they handled that plane of Oblivion (don't know the English name) and Mehrunes Dagon in TES IV, why was I expecting anything original or creative?

I imagined Alduin to look more ancient and powerful and big. It's a god after all. Looks too much like all the other dragons.

I think the biggest thing will not exactly be how he looks or how large he is.

What will be more important, is his presentation.

Will he have an awesome voice? Will he have memorable dialogue in and out of combat?

Will the battle music and mood/backdrop of the fight be epic?

Will his battle be challenging and amazing to behold?

Will we defeat him in a suitably epic, non cheesy way?

Sadly, I am not too optimistic. Epic battles nowdays seem to have been monopolized by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo7QbHg5hTA.

Even if the statue was to scale, the word wall is surprisingly large in the demo. Alduin is likely going to be monstrously huge, and there are plenty of elements that will make him more memorable. His Voice Actor, the battle, etc are far more memorable than his visual aesthetics. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if we had to do battle with a human form avatar as well.

At first I thought you meant the 1 foot statue. :P Silly me

I guess this is the Grey Dragon we're gonna meet in caves that we can't escape from that they were talking about.

Could you elaborate on this a bit? It sounds really interesting.

Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed. It's more terrifying than awe-inspiring, which isn't what I had hoped for. Hopefully, Alduin's scale will make up for his design.
