So now I'm playing Borderlands?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 2:49 am

So I just fought a Super Mutant labeled as a Legendary Skirmisher, and he dropped a special hunting rifle called the Never Ending Hunt. It somehow has unlimited ammo capacity, so I never need to reload it. What the hell Bethesda...

This is not Borderlands!

There's no activated skills or melee overrides :hehe:

Ah, Maya and her Scorn, what fun we had

See? These people will be the new clients of Bethesda. Power armor/ Minigun from the start? Great! Pewpew! Being a badass! Legendary weapons that make no sense etc? Lewt ftw!

Bye bye fallout, welcome "modernized" fallout...thing.

I too was reminded of borderlands while playing, but in a positive way. Such as regarding mole rats and radscorpions. Rather than just running away when they can't reach me on a rock or the like, they burrow under ground so I can't cheaply kill them. not to mention that the way they make their appearence is by burrowing out of the ground in the first place. If taking a page from borderlands mean having several class of enemies that have more strategy than just running up to my face and hurting me, then I am all for it.

Well, FO:NV fans were hoping for Legendary enemies. And everyone was hoping that the crafting system didn't mean the removal of unique weapons.

Only thing new here is putting unique loot on Legendary enemies.

(and yeah, I got a fancy leg armor off a Legendary ghoul. Go figure.)

Yeah, the way ghouls either rise from the ground, or creep in through vents/windows/etc is pretty cool.

How about the fact that a weapon you never need to reload is absolutely ridiculous?

I like the legendary enemies. I have had all good drops. From my understanding and the guide there is only ONE weapon modifier in the game that gives the gun unlimited ammp and like 75 that don't. I wouldn't get too upset over one silly thing. It is like the crashed alien ship in fallout 3.

I agree power armor is too easy to find. I don't use it

So is eating 200 year old canned food or stabbing yourself with a "stimpak" to heal bullet wounds haha it's a game. It'd take you 2 seconds to get rid of the gun and never see it again. Really a petty thing to change your opinion of the entire game

Weak argument. Those things can actually explained within the lore of the game. Both are advanced, futuristic tech. Stimpaks increase the body's natural healing speed, and those old packaged foods contain an extremely potent preservative. There is absolutely no explanation for how or why a rudimentary hunting rifle never has to be reloaded.

I just looked out of curiosity and it seems that you use bullets, you just don't have to reload...at least for the never ending shotgun.

You can try to present a better idea instead of complaining about a "new" feature. They ripped of the building system from "Rust" and i don't see anyone complaining.

But every other deviation from reality in the series (radiation making everything bigger and nastier instead of just killing it, usable supplies still existing after 200 years, etc.) isn't?

More so than Swiming in an ocean thats actualy more radioactive than the the cooling tank recovered from Fukushima?

or 200+ year old Ghouls that emit more radiation on demand than the LEU reactor at Texas A&M?

Or Cardboard boxes of food that are still edible after 210 years while basically exposed to the elements?

Or a Laser rifle that somehow never needs a reload because "SCIENCE!"(Bascialy old fallout and fallout new vegas, which actualy introduced a pistol version because "SCIENCE" MARCHES ON!

Or the inclusion of Star Trek. Dr Who, and Monty Python?(Seriously no lawsuits were involved. . .)

Or Stimpacks healing you from gunshot wounds almost instantly from a point of near deah, or pulling a eye out of a doctor bag and stuffing it into your own head and having it "Just Work" despite the insane amount of pain you should be in while doing that?(from fallout 1)

Never mind nuclear weapons that still function 200+ years after manufacture (just so you know, No one has yet invented a weaponisable Neutron source that stores for more than 5 years before becoming functionally useless due to decay, never mind 2 centuries., never mind that just the radiation and waste heat coming from the warhead (yes the warhead generates heat through Radioactive decay, this is not news) will cause most chemical explosive initiators to break down to inert sludge within 20-30 years without proper cooling. Heck it was actually a safety feature with Soviet sub kiloton yield nukes that they had to be serviced roughly every 6 months and completely rebuilt every 3 years or they would fail when used)

Never mind the fact that somehow your lugging around 200+ pounds of guns food drugs and a truely insane amount of ammo and all you have for load bearing gear is literally a small purse that is a cosmetic item that somehow boosts your str by > 10% and a shiny blue and gold-ish jump suit with no visible pockets....(and at that the purse is a quest reward you can easily miss!)(the purse is actually an improvement in this Version of Fallout because Hey its Actualy a wearable bit of load-carrying gear that shows up on your character!)
