So now that we experienced Skyrim what's your favorite Elder

It is still no contest Morrowind, I've quit Skyrim and gone back to playing Morrowind.

That said, Skyrim is still close enough that with sufficient modding it may one day meet or exceed Morrowind.

I voted for Morrowind, because it scared the $%^*£ out of me. I love Oblivion and Skyrim just as much, but Oblivion & Skyrim, I have no fear :/ I feel Immortal mostly.

Give Skyrim a chance, it will be epic in the near future.

Why does there need to be anything like that in Skyrim? If you are talking about the 36 lessons of Vivec, yes, they were very interesting, but they were unique to the world and aesthetic of Morrowind. The history of the Thalmor and the Dragonborne, as well as many other things replace that now, because those things are relevant to whats going on in the current age. Besides, you are only talking about lore. The lore of Morrowind is simply built into the rest of the series as it continues.

When we are talking about depth, it is undeniable that Morrowind offered much, much more of it.
Not only were the characters better realised, they had more to say for themselves.
The history of the Thalmor in Skyrim is written in 4 short, straight-to-the-point books.

The Sermons are still relevant today.

Oblivion was better in every way than to Morrowind. Morrowind had no sense of culture and the story was too dull, just a bunch of fetch quests.

Also, Morrowind seemed dumbed down for little kiddies, with no depth at all.

Oblivion FTW. At least it has unique quests and characters which aren't boring and undetailed. As I felt Oblivion's quests like Whodunit? were very injoyable and made you feel like an assassin where as Skyrim quests I've already forgotten. And Morrowind wasn't that fun because it was quite an early game and it wasn't all that. Whereas the others I haven't played.

if I want to play a more simple, fun action game, I'll grab Skyrim.

Remove the word fun, and you'd be just right.

You'd be wrong, but whatever.

[...]

Why would I be wrong? Your story does nothing to prove that Skyrim has the amount of depth and choice as previous Elder Scrolls games, only that you had fun while playing it.

1. Skyrim
2. Oblivion
3. Fallout 3 (Ooops)
4. Morrowind

Oblivion, for nostalgia and because it's "home" for me. I have the mechanics and system down to a smooth dance. I play a heavily modded version of Oblivion on my PC. My complaints with Skyrim have mostly to do with the keyboad controls, UI, and the mouse slop problems. I also have some poblem using enchantment tables. Other than that, Skyrim's a lot of fun with some subtle touches and surprises. Morrowind is a game I've played a bit. The atmosphere does svck you in. The graphics were better than I expected. The combat system was the biggest hurdle...not good. I look forward ro getting back to Morrowind. It's still a "new" game to me.

But for now, Skyrim is my favorite hall-o-deck.

Morrowind - No fast travel + easy questing due to the big white arrow telling me where a hidden item is etc. I liked the thrill of exploration and even the frustrating bits where I searched for 2 hours for an npc just to deliver 10 potion and get 100g...

THIS. Is the reason Skyrim is winning by so much. Majority of the people that voted haven't even played Morrowind. =/

Well, for it to be a completely unbiased poll, only people who have played every title would be allowed to vote. That does not mean, however, that Morrowind would take the lead either as you are implying.

I have played all of the titles and (as I posted earlier) Morrowind was bumped from first place to second place for my favorite Elder Scrolls title. That doesn't make me any less intelligent or any less of an RPG-lover as many posters around here would have you believe.

I've got in over 100 hours of Skyrim. I switched to Morrowind based on different factors shifting the balance of what I wanted to play. The New Game High kept me interested in Skyrim a long time and held off me getting burned out on Skyrim for a very long time. But from the begin there were moments where I thought "Morrowind did that better" or "If they hadn't changed it from what morrowind did this wouldn't be a problem" and "God this is awesome, but you know what is even more awesome? Morrowind!" Those piled up eventually combined with the burnout of overplaying Skyrim outweighed the waning New Game high and the "Skyrim is Awesome."

I'm not going to abandon Skyrim, I just need to play Morrowind now and take a break from Skyrim.

Yes, because immersion and detail totally isn't "depth". Skyrim is a much more detailed world, from the actual environments themselves, to the events that happen throughout the world, both in cities as well as outside of it.

And it has just as much choice as Morrowind. Let's not be blind here and act like Morrowind was some "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. Morrowind has no more "choice" to it than Skyrim.

I did actually.
I didnt have immortal NPC's, so there was always one more option to end a quest.

1. Daggerfall. Best gameplay experience out of the five
2. Skyrim. Succeeds Oblivion in gameplay but not morrowind in Story length, but definitely beats morrowind in story developing. Sad that the side quest lines are so damn short. Absolutely beautiful game..
3. Morrowind. Absolutely beautiful game again. Beats Daggerfall in story development but its spell system was lackluster alongside combat and dungeon size.
4. Oblivion. Wasn't as horrible as people made it out to be...With mods. Without it was horrid from a normal player's view but as a roleplayer I made it last a very very long time.
5. Arena. Its just the oldest and it was definitely succeeded by Daggerfall by a long shot despite the vast assortment of bugs.

Do you see how I made winning by so much in bold? Because I knew somebody like you would mistake me for saying Morrowind would be in the lead. No. That's not what I meant at all.

I was simply implying most of the voters are new to the series and haven't even played Morrowind - Arena. In reality they are comparing Skyrim to Oblivion.

Most of the voters are from the "wider audience". The "wider audience" wouldn't enjoy the first three games, so Skyrim and Oblivion would win by default.

My first ES game was Morrowind, I was suitably impressed with it but once the novelty had worn off I found it to be pretty dull. I only ever played it in vanilla, if I had played mods on it I'm sure I would be better disposed towards it.

Skyrim in comparison is much easier to get into and more playable from the get go, it isn't without issues but I like it more than Morrowind. I never tried Oblivion so cannot comment on that.

I've played all the Elder Scrolls games.

Skyrim is my favorite. It's actually my favorite game of all time. I can say that safely after investing over 50 hours into it. It's no longer a matter of "Shiny New Game". No other game has provided the level of moment to moment joy that this game does. It nails the atmosphere, it drenches you in lore, and lets you be a part of that lore. I think the combat is the best yet in the series. It is a tremendous game, that has already given me so many moments I will never forget. It is a masterpiece. The finest game of this console generation, and further, the best gaming experience I have ever had. I cannot sing Bethesda's praises loud enough.

Here's how I rank all the Elder Scrolls games:

1 Skyrim
2. Morrowind
3. Daggerfall
4. Arena
5 Redguard
6. Oblivion
7 Battlespire.

To be clear, I enjoyed Battlespire quite a bit. These are all some of my favorite games. I'm an admitted really devoted fan of the series. But I am also an avid gamer, and have been gaming for over 30 years. I never considered any of the other Elder Scrolls games to be "the best". Skyrim has truly earned that mark, for me.
