Now that you've seen the forced 3rd person finishers, do you

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 12:01 am

No, not any more than seeing myself skinning, mining, woodcutting, milling, making potions, cooking, enchanting, smelting, sharpening, smithing, hammering, falling down, sitting and riding.

And hey it's 2 seconds at most.

If anything annoys me is when the enemy finishes me off <_<

I like the finishers but yes I would like 1st person to trigger only 1st person finishers and I would have loved to option for them to be triggered by the player. Like say maybe a slow motion moment where the enemy

attacks and you get the choice to finish him or(I know I've seen this somewhere)before but when their down on the ground on the verge of death to hit a button and trigger the finisher.

I love them although I don't get them too often. I wish you got them for critical hits no matter the weapon though (like in FO:NV). I would love a perfect headshot with my bow in slow motion and all.

3rd person finishers, do you want them gone?

Nope.
They're new in TES and I don't mind them. I don't always find them interesting, no. But I try and use them toward my enjoyment.
1. In the middle of being ganged on, it gives me a few seconds to regroup without having to pause.
2. It's something different than I'm used to seeing in TES. That's not always a bad thing.

For me, it's simply a non-issue.
If they weren't in, some would rant that TES gameplay is stagnant. Since they are in, some will rant they're unwanted.
Of the two, the prior would be difficult to mod in. The latter can easily be modded out.

One opinion.

I like them and even try to figure out what I can do to make them more likely. I agree with others, though, that a toggle would be a good option for those who don't like them.

To whoever don't like the finishing moves, there's already a mod that remove them.

I love it so I won't use it :)

Nope, leave them in. Even the ones I hate, the ones where I end up dead.

I use bows and arrows so most of the time I never get one. The few times I use a dagger then I get a 1st person finisher.

But if I were to use swords and stuff then I would love to see the finishers. I see no problem with them.

I'm more sick of them happening all the time on lower tier enemies, they are pretty cool at times though

I very very much like them. At least the one handed mid combat finishers, although they tend to stay 1st person, and certainly the sneaky throat slit animation.

I love them. They will never be removed so this thread is pointless.
Take this ridiculous bickering to the mods section.

I love the finishers, but I want them to stay in whatever view you are in (i.e. if you are in first person, all finisher moves are only in first person).

Took me a long time to even see a finisher. I played my first character wielding left handed (I'm a lefty, feels more natural for me) and I never saw a single finishing move. I was extremely surprised on my next character to see a finishing move as I was playing right handed with that one. I think they're alright, I don't find them too frequent.

It would be nice if they just remained in 1st person all the time if you're in 1st person mode however. Or even just had an option to turn them off for those who don't like them much. I can imagine they might get annoying after a while.

So a good work around if you hate them is to wield with your left hand, you won't see any finishers.

As a stealth assassin, 3rd person finishers are a treat. Nothing beats the experience of slitting all enemies' throats at their base during night time undetected.

I just wish it happened all the time, rather than sometimes. And I wish there were 3rd person finishers for animals and monsters as well, rather than just humanoid enemies.
If I could get it all the time, it would be an A+ experience. But as it is right now, it is just an 'A' experience.

Seeing as some people are divided over this, why not create a toggle mode in options? Toggle for always, sometimes, never.

I find them annoying. To be honest, the whole crazy zooming satelite map, space travel skill menu and third person elements to this game detract from the experience Elderscrolls should be. I would have much preferred it if Bethesda had taken a cue from Valve and their excellent ability to tell a story without ever taking away controll from the player or forcing third person view than from the myriads of 3rd person RPGs and action adventures that used to be a seperate thing from Elderscrolls.

I see no harm whatsoever in a toggle option, but i enjoy the finishers so please dont remove them :P Toggle! (although more finishes would be good.. same one over and over again kinda looses some of its flavor)

I don't see a lot of them, since I use mainly conjuration and archery, but most I've seen haven't been particularly impressive. Some are pretty awkward looking, sometimes the camera is at a bad angle, sometimes your character and the NPC both are in odd positions making it look like you're not really even making contact with your weapon, etc. etc. I had one recently vs. a dragon where I jumped on top of his head - or that was what was intended - but I was actually floating in the air off to the side of it's head, whiffing into the breeze with a war axe instead of hitting it.

I'll probably remove them with a mod once I've got a melee character. It's too bad since a few are pretty cool, but they're just too inconsistent and glitchy.

Love 'em. They're dramatic, and I get to see my character in action / being a badass.

They're better than the 1st person finishers, honestly.... many of the 1st person ones just look kind of awkward.

(And yes... I do all my combat in first person. Most travel, too.)

I enjoy the 1st person ones, the forced 3rd person ones are obnoxious but then again I rarely play melee characters so it hasn't had too large of an effect on me.
