Now What? We're in the dark...

Post » Wed Feb 16, 2011 7:00 am

So now that gi's coverage is officially over with the podcast release today we have no idea when we will get information. Since the announcement of the game we pretty much knew when to expect info between the gi cover reveal, today's podcast, and everything in between. This will be the first time since the announcement that we don't even have an estimate for any updates.

Now we are in the dark. I'm scared or worried whatever makes more sense. Could be no info until next month at gdc and then that's not even guaranteed. E3 will be awesome because I'm sure we will get some great stuff regarding skyrim but that's four months away...

All this means now is that other magazines can not start doing previews, not just GI any more. I don't think we will be in the dark soon. Nothing to worry about, Bethesda isn't this stupid.

This is Bethesda, not Games-Workshop.

Yes, now we'll have to wait for IGN and Gamespot previews, gameplay videos, screenshots, and trade show coverage like we do for other games that are almost a whole year from release. How ever will we survive?

He said in the podcast that they would be feeding information all the way up to release

In fact it sounded like they had a plan for when that information would be released, including gameplay video

So I wouldn't worry

So will ign, gamespot and all the other gaming sites. Doesn't mean gi will get any more exclusive stuff...

Nine months. Big difference.

I don't think that means they have exclusive coverage anymore though. They'll release information, just like a bunch of other gaming news sites.

Now when will elderscrolls.com be updated? I'd like to see it restored...

I'm waiting for those 5 part gameplay videos. I watched those over and over up until the release of Oblivion and the same as Fallout 3.

Well the OXM cover story comes out 10th Feb. There should be some nice unambiguous information in there that isn't blurred by translation issues. After that we're screwed though.

Pete said we'd see a gameplay video in a month with the letter R in the name of the month. This means, it's gameplay before E3, which is up to the end of April.

Or rather, it's probably a trailer.

Besides Todd said in the podcast that they had other stuff to show but were waiting for the right time to show it. (Factions)
He also said they were messing with other things as well. (Werewolves)
We just have to be patient.

Nine months. Big difference.

Nine months, which is three months short of a whole year, is a huge difference from "almost a whole year?" I guess we measure time differently.

Nevertheless, my point is that now we just have to wait for information like we do every other game we anticipate "many months" (better?) before release. Most games don't offer up meaty details each and every week over the course of nine months before release. They just give online and print publications hands on time and let them preview their product. We'll probably get a site redesign soon that will give us more information, too.

I'm sure Bethesda will keep feeding us info. But are we really so impatient that we freak out now that the GI exclusives are over for the time being? This is the process we go through with every game. EVERY GAME. And people are seriously like,"OMG We're in the dark!" now? Really?

That's all I'm saying.

There's a difference between "three months" and "three months less time until Skyrim".

Time has slowed to a crawl since the VGAs.

Yes 3/4 of a year is a big difference compared to a year. That's three full months.

I think it might be a little easier now that people don't have to wonder on a day to day basis if there will be an update. Now it will be just like waiting for any other game.

We shouldn't complain about info yet.
I mean for most other games we don't get that info until they are released.
Contrary I would say that we got too much info too early.
