i read some where here, that all i had to do was give 1 ammo of the correct type to an npc and they never use it. but now i have a companion that asked me for ammo. i checked and sure enough, they had no more ammo. do companions use ammo? i have been giving my provisioners only 1 round, are they running out too? can i get a definitive answer to the question?

Companions do require ammunition, but to my knowledge other NPCs only require one.

I did read somewhere that mini-nukes are an exception, but I doubt many people would want their settlers armed thusly for anything more than some LOLs.

Companions use up ammo when using a gun other than their default while everyone else only requires 1 ammo that their gun uses in order to use it indefinitely (from what I read mini-nukes are an exception and, I think missiles as well?).
