NPC's/creatures spawning after saves

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:08 am

I've been having problems with creatures/NPC's suddenly spawning right next to me in the wasteland; usually after loading a save. There's been several times when I'm exploring/traveling where I'll load a save and all of the sudden there's a Super Mutant or a pack of raiders (among others) that suddenly spawn right next to me. Of course I only save when I'm pretty damn sure it's safe and there's no enemies in sight; but about 50% of the time I get random enemies that spawn with my save. I'm guessing it's a conflict with my mods (which I have a lot); but searching the www I didn't find anything that stuck out in my load order. It could also be a side effect of using a heavily modded game, I just don't know

No, it's perfectly normal. With many spawn points, another set of characters won't spawn in until you've entered a cell a second time. I see this all over the place in Fallout, it's the way the game was designed. You just have to be careful where you reload a saved game from.

I sometimes get the creature spawn right next to me issue. (sometimes right after loading a save and sometimes just randomly)

However i think the original poster may have a different problem. I remember reading that a earlier version of marts mutant mod was causing large spawn mobs right at the feet of the player after loading a save. It was something to do with the diverse spawn location feature of MMM. I think mart modified his script so the spawn issue was much less present.

So you may want to check what version of MMM you are running. If it is not the latest then i would upgrade.

I would also experiment with disabling MTC Wasteland Travellers to see if it has any impact on your issue.

This happens often with MMM. I've saved right after a fight with an low-level enemy or two then been killed moments later. When my save reloads, I'm suddenly in the middle of five very different and very much alive enemies.

Thanks for the info! I thought it might have been a "side-effect" of using mods that change spawn points. I'll check out the latest ver. of MMM and see if that helps.

edit: Just checked the MMM thread and it looks like I am using the latest ver.; so I guess I'll just have to pick my save spots better
