So Lud, the freelance Orc adventurer, has been knocking around Leyawiin lately. His first night there (he arrived after dark), he wandered the town a bit, just exploring, then he took a room at the Three Sisters for the rest of the night. The next morning, he set out to sell the loot he'd accumulated on the way down. When he opened the door, there was a body in the street, just down to the right a little way - directly in front of Margarte's house. Curious, I (Lud wasn't even involved any more at this point) went and checked it out, and it was Numeen - the Argonian who's married to, and nags, Mahei. Looking around quickly, I saw someone in Burgundy and Black disappearing around the corner south of the Three Sisters. Suspecting (hoping, somewhat perversely) that it was Mahei, I had Lud follow and approach him, only to discover that it was Count Caro.

Not quite sure what to make of that. I have no idea why anyone would kill Numeen - she doesn't steal and has low aggression. It makes a bit of flight-of-fancy sense that the Count would, but that would only be after.... indulging his hobby. And of course, in-game, that's just not going to happen. But I really can't think of any legitimate reason why it would've happened, and some glitch explanations are at least a bit more satisfying than others.

I guess it'll remain a mystery, but I'm pretty sure Lud's suspicious about the Count. Of course, he doesn't know the Count's secret, and I'm not sure if he'll discover it. Though you know..... I was kicking around the idea of having him do the TG anyway...........

Hmm... side effect of a mod, maybe? Sometimes my Saddlebag mod induces NPCs to attack my horse, and it seems to have something to do with NPCs looking for food (it only seems to happen if there are any edibles in the horse's inventory).

NPCs have been known to just drop dead on their own as well, the Count may have had nothing to do with. I've seen it happen myself a couple of times. Once in the Chorrol Oak & Crossier I heard this gasp behind me, and when I turned around an NPC was dead on the floor. No one was there but him, me and the Matron, and I had been looking at her at the time. I chalked it off as the character having a cardiac arrest.

I considered the possibility of a mod, but I don't have any mods that alter NPC behavior or anything of that nature. It's pretty much all just cosmetics - weapons, armor, clothes... that sort of thing. And no - I don't really think it was the Count (I'm pretty sure he's not even armed) - I just like the idea, and it'll work well with Lud. Obviously he doesn't have any reason to not believe it was the Count, so if he does the TG later and discovers the Count's secret, it'll make perfect sense to him, even though I know better. I just thought it was strange. Inexplicable. I've seen City-Swimmer killed a few times, and a few others like Shameer or Big Head, but that's always because they get caught stealing. I tend to think that it was just a straightforward glitch - that something momentarily hiccupped somewhere and a 1 got switched for a 0 and that somehow equaled Numeen is dead. Can't roleplay that though....
