NPC freezing whenever I get 15 yards away from them

Hi there!

Well, my problem is fairly simple: when i get 15 yards away from most NPCs, they freeze in place, even their torches stop "flaming" (The effect is similar to the one you get typing "tai" in the console). If I get close to them they will start moving, but only as long as I stay near them.

I assume this problem is due to my game not handling the AI correctly, but I don't know what mod might have caused it (Maybe Viconia's or Vilja's mod?). I'd enormously appreciate any kind of help you could provide me to fix this, so thank you in advance!

Wonder if you are moving out of "ai distance", and the game just stops processing them?

I think you're right, but what causes my AI distance to be suddenly as low as a few yards? I mean, right now, in the market districto (IC) i get like 5 or 6 NPC frozen in place, sometimes in weird positions, and don't move till I get REALLY close to them. Is there anyway to tweak the AI distance? I'd really appreciate some help...

I don't know.... I can't come up with anything in the ini that refers to it..... check the sliders for the various distances, and see what your actor distances are. If that doesn't seem to help, rename, or delete, your oblivion.ini, and fire the game up again, and see if it makes any difference.

Streamline has StreamSmooth, which changes the sliders to maintain a consistent FPS and can be adjusted using the menu to stop this problem for actors.You access the menu by pressing Right CTRL and the Home key.

I've had this problem because of Viconia. See if it goes away when UnderdarkSaga.esp is disabled.
