NPC Intimidation

Post » Thu Sep 09, 2010 6:31 pm

So i was thinking, while reading another topic, about Karma, good and bad. ect.

I was wondering, why doesnt anyone in Oblivion notice when you are walking around in the Imperial City with full daedric armor on.

If it was me i probably would freak out seeing a fully clad deamon looking humanoid walking around. Or at least give a second glance.

So i guess the question is, would you like NPC's to make comments on your armor that your wearing?
Maybe make possible 'infamous' armor and 'famous' armor? (good/bad armor)

Im not saying make the NPC's comment on ALL armor that is worn, just the higher level ones.
I could see where it would get annoying hearing the same beggar talk about my Iron armor,
Or my new leather armor.

Im just saying it seemed weird not getting any reaction from the NPC's about my standing in the world, exept my fame/infamy numbers.

That makes me think if fame/infamy wasnt in the game, no NPC's would notice me unless i talked to them.

Hopefully i font get another 'mundane' award for most mundane topic xD

Let''s talk.

It would be cool if NPC's sometimes commented on certain high level equipment. Too bad we won't see this at E3...

Oh, hey Wicca!

Haha hey there

lol @ the E3 comment...

E3 needs to get here already. So we dont have to talk this talk again xD

It would be cool to have weaker NPC's run from fear if im fully clad daedric armor with highest level infamy.

Please do not double post to bump a boring topic, there's a reason no one replied immediately...

I think its a bad idea and wouldn't be used in the game. Doesn't really add to immersion and I don't want the devs wasting they're time adding stuff like this when the could be adding more quests, guilds, creatures, weapons and GRAPHICS!

Edit: is this an inside joke between the above posters or something?

Hmm, kinda like Fable's Appearance system? Could be cool as long as it doesn't go as far as crowds gathering around you cheering, might be a little silly for Skyrim.

Or at least, id be pleasently suprized if Todd changed his mind last minute about E3, making a playable demo open to the public only at E3 with all this new info.. *wakes up*
Damn..

But if anything id like some recognition from traversing the lands and gathering all this stuff, if someone said something about it. I think it takes away from the game if you dont get any recognition, because whats the difference between Daedric and Iron, socially, if its just numbers to the NPC's? they dont Gawk over finding rare armor. Its just polygons, with higher numbers than the last polygons. (or whatever the correct term is)

Please, Beth, at least consider this when your finishing up the last month or so, couldnt be too hard to implament right?

Well if its bornig then why post in it? Seems redundant to me.

And i doubly posted because no one even veiwed it and this isnt a very talked about topic, that if you think about it needs some recognition.

Its sort of an inside joke, the E3 is a very talked about topic and "Is todd going to release info on Skyrim at E3?" Simply put, NO! For the millionth time no. Its been said multiple times in interveiws "Hopefully we can release new info 'around' E3" Bethesda's booth is closed to the public, and is Invite Only.
Edit: (sorry for the 'Double Post'. Again.)

Definitely would like npcs to comment, not just on armour, but on clothes, yes noble clothes were far too cheap in OB, I want really expensive outfits, and I want them to be noticed. Palonyra was lying, no-one gave a damn if you were wearing her designs.

Also, a sarky comment or two on the state of your equipment would be nice, "can't afford repair hammers, eh?"

As for the special armours, no thank you, reminds me too much of Fable 'wear this assassin's coat for +5 evil' .

I can see where youre coming from, and i want the same feel for Skyrim, Unique. I dont want to play this game and think of how similar it is to OB or Fable and all that.

I like the idea of the condition of your equipment comments, but id like it to be more varied than just the repair hammer thing. If every nobelman said that to me at the beggining i think id go nuts. and go on an early killing spree....

Well thats really good feature to be added into Skyrim, NPC reaction on equipment really make them more aware about surrounding as well make certain items illegal to wear or modify disposition of NPC, not only making comments.
Clothing matters add such feature to Oblivion,

Morrowind before has it but not developed well, Daggerfall even have special magic property thats change reputation for fractions by wearing such enchanted items.

Well i hope the team at bethesda takes the initiative and applies this into the game so we dont have to mod it in.
